I have fired off about 1.5k shots since the shutter replacement, and I have compared the before and after overexposed shots of white wall. As the 1.5k shots were fired off during an event, there were some changing of lens involved

Before: just a couple of dust spots. This was right after shutter was replaced by NSC

After: about 5-10 spots of dust, mostly at left side of image

Just a while ago, i used a blower to blow my sensor. And then used the same exposure setting and fired off another shot. All dust bunnies are gone, couldnt find a single 1 left.

I dun usually clean my sensor as it dun really bother me tat much. I hope this gives confidence in potential buyers tat are interested in this amazing camera : )

My D600 shutter plate also replaced yesterday by NSC. Hope it will remove the common dust/oil problem...

So is the problem gone for you now?

Next two week, I will be using it for sport, macro, night shots. A few test shots should not know the result.. IMO.

The sensor was clean when my shutter was replaced by NSC. Since then, I have fired about 500+ shots with some changing of lenses in the open and so far, there is only 1 spot. Things are looking good ... :)

Uncle Meng, may i know what aperature u use for the spots to be seen?
for me, can c the spots if my aperature is more than f/8.

It depends on the background. I can see the spot in some photos with aperture as wide as f/8. It is not visible in all the photos though.

thx for the info

i need to shoot more.

May I suggest if u guys have photoshop just open a blank white canvas, then full screen, hide panels.. Nice n white bg..

Just received my D600 from NSC today, on the service invoice, the shutter plate was replaced and sensor cleaned.

HTH.

Hi...so can we safely say that this issue has been resolved?

Hi...so can we safely say that this issue has been resolved?

For me resolved means every unit in stores today is clean when you hand over the cash.

If Nikon issues a statement to say that certain supply of shutter causes the problem and that they have changed the supplier.

I have the strange feeling this thread is like the movie the Groundhog Day... ;)

I've done another 600+ shots on mine. I did a white wall test and I can count 11 faint spots scattered mostly on the upper half. They are nice and round like previously.

They look less distinct and fainter than before the shutter change.

So the shutter change doesn't solve the problem but at least it is minimised now.

I can't really see the spots at F11 and below.

I might consider sending the camera in for another cleaning after a few months but in the meantime I'm just going to enjoy using it and not bother so much about this issue anymore.

I took a few photos at NSC to check out and there were no spots.

I will report back when I have used my D600 extensively.

Cheers.

I think which aperture u can see the spots, also depends on what focal length u r shooting at.

Anyway u can try using a blower to blow the sensor. It was pretty easy for me, just took me a few blows to blow away all the dust.

Sianz asked Techno if Sensor change covered under warranty, they said "We will have to check this with our supplier and let you know soon.".. Fingers crossed..

Correction: I meant shutter mechanism change.

Yes sensor cleaning is covered.
