If one go to IT show, pick up the camera and pay at RRP.... think the sales fella cannot sleep... in SHOCK..... :bsmilie:

Hahaha. If only you know just how many people do that...

Anyway, it is only the in house sales team that truly earns. All the part time as hoc sales personnel don't really earn that much.

erm... how to tell if the serial is recent? What is the range?

Easy, last time I called up all the shops and asked for the serial numbers they had in stock. I simply picked the highest one (for a colleague). That was at the end of last year. Usually I would do that before buying a D600 or D800/E. It takes you only 15 minutes in total. If you didn't do that before you bought it, it doesn't matter anymore. It's easier in the US, UK, Australia and Europe where people share serial numbers online.
From my experience the serial numbers in Singaporean stores vary a lot. The smaller shops had the lowest numbers whereas only the biggest shop had pretty high numbers.

In December Cathay sold already 804xxxxx. Well, that doesn't mean anything. Could be there were already 805x around and now we have March anyway. :) As long as you're happy with your unit you have no reason to worry.

It's 8039xxx. Pretty close. Ha. From dec till now, I don't expect serial to have huge diff. D600 sales must have hit a snag with the oil problem but if it can be rectified, I am not worried. But the serial number with oil issues varied for different country.

Every region has it's own serial numbers.

I do that so that the equipment I have, have nice serial numbers. Of course, it depends on the shop's willingness to show you the serial numbers they have.

There you go... ;) And that also explains why some people got dust in their D600. Sometimes things are easier than they appeared to be.

I guess I should spend less time practicing and mote time checking serial numbers.

Does a D7000 with a good serial number have better resolution than a D800E?
