Choose a system. Not just the body.

The lenses and accessories you buy, you'll keep even after you have upgraded the body. Once you've invested 3-4 lenses/flashes/filters, you'll find it even harder to switch camps.

Canon or Nikon? It has been 'discussed' a million times. Read them arguements. You decide. But go down to the photo shop, feel both, pretend to take some shots then buy what you feel is right. ;)

yes, for all those people without an existing SLR system and feeling the need to move from a point & shoot or consumer digicam to a $4k+ camera system (incl. lenses), the answer to your questions

'should I buy a D60'
'should I buy a D100'
'should I buy a Tamron 28-300 since I got almost no money after buying the body'

Assuming it is a start from scratch (meaning no system on hand) then how?

I am from the Nikon camp. However, if you are starting from scratch with a limited budget get the Canon.

Reason:
-USM + faster AF
-Cheaper Lens (compared to Nikon)
-Good comptability b/w body and lens.

:D :D

Serious, the F80 body is better than the body the D30/60 is based on. I am saying based on the body alone, since the image quality of the D100 is unknown. ;p

But the D30/60 has a better body than the S1 Pro.

USM + faster AF - Do you really need them?

Cheaper Lens (compared to Nikon) - Not really. True for some AFS lenses compared to the L counterpart. Not true for some primes e.g. the 50 f1.4.

Good comptability b/w body and lens - YUP!!!

then get both since you cannot decide ... :)

Go with Canon then buy the 1D. ;p Otherwise, if choosing between D60 and D100, get the latter. ;p :rbounce:

Most of the time, it's probably the photog's reflexes that just ain't fast enough. The quote "If you see it, you've missed it" comes to mind.
