hmmm...... this is a tricky question. I would say how familiar can you get with your camera.

D5100 is a very easy camera for beginners, it has a list of preset mode for beginners who are new to DSLR and once beginners got used to it, they can move on to explore onto Aperture mode (A mode), Shutter mode (S mode), Manual mode (M mode) or P ( so called Professional mode :bsmilie:). All the settings can be set on the screen itself. Unlike those semi-pro or pro camera, they only have A mode, S mode, M mode and P mode. All the settings are scattered around the buttons on the camera body itself where you need to know where the buttons are and what are they for)

D5100 is a beginner camera suitable for those who just move onto DSLR or for fun. Definitely not for serious and demanding people.

I think D3100 is much easier to handle than D5100 . I guess so cos I'm also a beginner ,

P mode is Programmed mode or Programmed Auto mode.

Look at the usual recommended shops in funan like alan, tk foto, John 3:16, slrr. I was also thinking about buying the 55-300mm. Wonder if it'll work well with the kenko macro extension tube, that would be perfect.

The handling should be the same.... the only difference i can see between both of them is the flip screen....

is there any battery grip available for d5100?

The d5100 does not have AF motor, but from my reading.. am i right to assume all AF-S lens will be able to auto focus issue with the camera?
