Hi joemit7850

Can you please let me know how did u resolve this issue. I bought new Nikon 5100 couple of days back and from the day one it has the same behavior as u have mentioned. I got 2 scandisk [both 8 gb] alng with the camera, both has the same behavior. I formatted both in my pc but still the same behavior. I then went back to the vendor and got the camera replaced but the behavior is the same.

Any body has any suggestion on this issue?? Need help.

Regards
Ram

Hi banjisg and Others

Please confirm if the issue is with the SD card or the camera. I have 2 scandisk SD and both behave in the same fashion :(.

My camera is just 5 days old and because of this issue i already went back to the vendor and got a new camera, but issue remains the same.

Please help.

Regards
Ramesh

U can find them at buy and sell section.

Hey guys I heard n understand that a lot of times in COMEX or some shop they give us a lower Class of SD card. Gotta check if it's Class 4, if it is then most likely u will face the formatting issues.
Was told to me by a Canon user.

It's shouldn't be a problem, as long as the card is not faulty it should work perfectly fine. I have been using class 4 cards since a few years ago an it's still working fine now

This shows kit lens cannot make it Bro!

anybody bought a 5100 recently? how much did u pay and what freebies did u get?

Kit lens still can make it, kit lens suitable to landscape and tour shots. If wanna go into macro, need to get a proper macro lens. ;)

I guess if kit lens can't make it then no one will buy Nikon anymore.

Of course can't compare to expensive n specific lenses.
Just spent $1k on a cam n can't be expecting to spend another bomb on lenses n gadget without knowing your cam first.
Gotta be realistic bro.

The pic is meant to show that kit lens can take decent shots n that D5100 is a good DSLR camera for beginners like me.

The pics are taken using Aperture Priority (A) mode with no PP on the pic, they are taken in JPEG.

Exploration comes first before expansion.

Ya... slowly play around with your kit lens first, explore first and get used to it, it still can take good pictures...... the kit lens is my tour lens....

Can't agree more with bro RENO.
The kit lens is in fact a decent 18-55mm lens IMHO.
For newbies like myself, I guess a lot of exploration is required to find out which field we want to venture into then get the right set up - Macro, landscape, street, abstract, portraits....then make sense to invest further into the appropriate.
For the meantime, the kit lens will meet my requirement to understand photography, aperture, shutterspeed, exposures, balances, and the many wonderful features of a DSLR.
D5100 really is a joy to me at the moment n since a mth ago, it has been part of my family outings - capturing many nice moments!
Cheers to all D5100 owners n cheers to all Nikonians!

Anybody have battery for D5100? Where can i buy from? What is the price range.... oh ya.. need to ask, previously i saw a guy holding a camera, i assumed that is a D3X/D3S, but when i when closer, i realized that is just a D700, because the camera looks so big like the D3X/D3S as mentioned... but what is the stuff that connected below the camera? The whole camera look so big...

Battery grip? Most dslrs offer u this extra grip so that u can hold the camera in a natural position when shooting portrait. There's also the extra battery u can place in it n in some models, it enhances the camera's functions (higher fps)
