ask u guys.....how can we set the movie exposure to manual in d5100 so that we could play with DOF while shooting video? thxs.

Frankly speaking just use auto for movie la or get a camcorder lor much easier to operate n no AF motor sound also Hahaha...

the thing is bro, with DSLR, we can play the DOF in the movie, just like a $10,000 videocorder......saw the D800 shot movie, very nice ley......hhmm...now drooling alrdy....

Yes u can adjust the aperture during recording look on ur screen below right u see the aperture change when u adjust .

the number on screen change... but the physically aperture does not.

Try to use 50mm f1.8 lens manual focus on movie recording , movie looks great also .

That I'm not so sure , only can set ur picture control , whether or not can check NIKON Japan .

afaik it's not possible to adjust the aperture once movie recording has started

Actually can play cheap... you need to get those AF-D lens where you can adjust your aperture on the lens itself. However, your camera has to set to manual mode.

that was wat i thought when i went there last monday getting my sb700. thxs for the tip.....but probably would like to get the G version with AF built in. would cost more unless i practice manual focusing first on my lenses n feel comfortable with manual focusing...
