the thing is bro, with DSLR, we can play the DOF in the movie, just like a $10,000 videocorder......saw the D800 shot movie, very nice ley......hhmm...now drooling alrdy....

Yes u can adjust the aperture during recording look on ur screen below right u see the aperture change when u adjust .
the number on screen change... but the physically aperture does not.

Maybe u try manual focus during movie recording

Try to use 50mm f1.8 lens manual focus on movie recording , movie looks great also .

That I'm not so sure , only can set ur picture control , whether or not can check NIKON Japan .

afaik it's not possible to adjust the aperture once movie recording has started :(

Actually can play cheap... you need to get those AF-D lens where you can adjust your aperture on the lens itself. However, your camera has to set to manual mode.

$229 for af-d 50mm? U can get it cheaper at Funan, $1xx
 

that was wat i thought when i went there last monday getting my sb700. thxs for the tip.....but probably would like to get the G version with AF built in. would cost more unless i practice manual focusing first on my lenses n feel comfortable with manual focusing...

G version is around 26x - 29x,
