They sort of did already. Did you miss the $150 USD deal last Christmas? works out I paid $199 sgd for a copy. Just hope they have a cheap upgrade deal for existing LR3 users.

Hi everyone! Is there a third-party battery grip for nikon d5100?

Actually was thinking of that too but so far for me, the battery lasts quite long.

The grip also serves as a vertical orientation trigger. Such that you do not need to chicken wing your arms when you are taking portrait orientation.

if memory serves me correct, there's a phottix one? I think there isn't any official grip for D5100...

There is no official grip from Nikon, only 3rd party grip. Lucky I only shoot landscape mode all the time. No need to "chicken wing"

I bought one 3rd party grip too haven try how long the batt last but my camera looks bigger can't use on my soft case ah....

saw a grip on my fren 5D camera. his grip also serves as a time lapse trigger. i think D5100 has it's own built in time lapse function right? haha...haven't master the menu yet.

No.... no official grip for D5100 from Nikon, if you see one selling outside, it is from 3rd Party.

I don't think Nikon will make one anytime soon. Somehow they don't see the need of making grips for entry level models, unlike Canon. If you want a grip, just get a 3rd party one.

Yalo only for hi- end model ....

I think because its entry level, that's why Nikon don't make it.

Think of it this way: those casual shooters who think a DSLR will give better pictures just because it's a DSLR will not buy a grip. The bulk of using a DSLR is already a burden for them, let alone add to the size? And most of these people will use the cam for a while and just forget about it cos "my compact can produce better pictures than that heavy paper weight".

No market == no point making
