Hehehehe... Konspire got it right.... The first photo is flashed... apart from the EXIF, look closely at the eye.... there is little bright spot on the eye, thats the reflection of the flash.

Flash is good... but very hard to control.... only a handful knows how to control it well.....
 

yeay...haha....just a wild guess. actually, how do i look at the EXIF of a picture? i guessed it based on how i like the natural look of the bird and its color and also, the 2nd picture is how i always get when i take zoom in picture. somehow i don't like how the exposure turns out. so that's how a rear curtain effect will give you.......i like it, nice....

Quite impressed with D5100 high ISO shot, following jpeg taken with vivid, ISO 2000, wide open at f2.8, 1/80 shutter and +2ev in quite dim indoor environment facing to my house back window.

The camera is very good... but you control the setting very well..!!

Thanks bro, just pumping up the ISO and widen the aperture. Will test on kids and people during cny, hope can get good portrait shots.
