Set you camera and flash to manual mode.
Your flash cover all contact point except the center one...u are good to go.

I have tried it on my D70 since D70 use electronic shutter..its dont have focal panel problem with manual flash... in D2H for example if i set to the above setting and using manual flash, use above 1/250s which is the highest flash sync of D2H i will c a dark pane on my photo.

Cover all contact point except the center one will not affect the performance?

How to cover btw? Sorry for my ignorance.... :(

What do you mean? :)

Thanks.

Operate SB600 in manual mode, u can lower the power of flash..
1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 , 1/16, 1/32, 1/64..not forgetting still got +/- to play with..

i'm still learning to get it correctly in manual mode..quite tough..

perhaps can try to use those electrical insulation tapes to cover the contact points..this can trick ur camera to shoot in ur desire shutter speed..

Use this formula:

Aperture (set on camera) = flash's GN (at camera's ASA) / subject's distance (from flash, in m).

For example:
Camera's ASA = ASA200.
flash's GN at ASA200 = 70 (full flash's Manual power, for M/2 or M/4, use respective GN).
Subject to flash distance = 3m.

So, Aperture = 70 / 3
Aperture = 23.33

I hope that help.

Arto.

I see, thanks for the heads up

Any other questions? ;)

don't forget, the GN of the flash will change, according the coverage (zoom) setting of the flash.

for SB 600, has a Guide Number of 30/98 [ISO100,m/ft], 42/138[ISO200,m/ft] (at 35mm zoom)
