Is the extended warranty worth it?

Did you know that you can opt not for the SB-400 flash in the D40X package and have the set at $1038 at the Comex show?

1038 + 399 = $1437
1188 + 299 = $1487

And also, extended warranty do not cover CCD cleaning. Did you read the fine prints before you signed up for the extended warranty?

anywaes, anyone had experiences bring DSLR to beaches? I'm planning for a trip to Krabi, Thailand and need some advices! (i.e. shld i bring my d40 there in the 1st place, care for dslr, things to look out for)

i think it should be alright so long as you do not get salt water and sand on it!

oh..and i was at east coast a while back and i saw this guy with a D80 and a tripod...the tripod looks really good. i think he was scanning around for good shots of bikini clad women running along the beach! ;p

No one is best lah, though the SB-400 is designed for the D40. You can use the 600 or 800 too, if you've got enough moolah!

Be careful. Too much silica gel in the box will dry up your rubber parts and gear lubricants. One teaspoonful of it will suffice. That will mean you have a long time to finish a bottle. If you are really keen to re-cycle them, maybe wait for the whole lot to finish. Re-cycled silica gel is said to be almost, not 100% like previously.

i got a tupperware box from my mom, place my kit + 55-200mm VR inside WITH the portable dehumidifier inside (bought the $1199 deal @ Comex) thankfully the box is big enuff

so far it hasn't change color yet :think:

Oh..forgot to update that with the dehumidifier, im getting readings of about 40-50% RH. even had to remove the silica gel pack inside to prevent excessive dryness.

if you can afford it, get the best that you can! its probably an accessory that you can keep for a long time even if you do "upgrade" the body/lenses etc.

for me, ill look at the price difference and then decide if its worth to spend that extra...then again, it also depends on what i really need

nope...wanted to but then decided not to go for the package cos i was still trying to sell off my camera at that point +...what did the package come with?

i paid 800 for mine + i got a 2gb card and a rather nice nikon bag

Nikon's Picture Project 1.7. It is quite a good program... but one feature it does not have is to adjust color temperature... but you can download Picasa 2 for free that has that feature.

That's to store your camera under favourable condition... to extend your cam lifespan.

I think... erm... that your lens hood can jagar your lens pretty well.. and if you are so clumsy until you can hit the lens.... I think UV filter or no UV filter the lens is gone case already :dunno:

Of course, UV filter is great when it's raining (but I use a CPL since I don't have a UV-my CPL double up as my protective filter)
