No. You can try the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM. Autofocuses on D40/x.

Sigma is producing a range of HSM lenses that will work with the D40/x (check out http://www.sigmaphoto.com/news/news.asp?nID=3356). I think this is a smart move on Sigma's part... but Tamron & Tokina has not caught on yet.

The 30mm f/1.4 is a really nice lens. I tried it out. But the draw back would be the cost... about $700+ (grey set is $600+). If you compare this aith $160+ for the Nikon 50mm f/1.8, I personally would hold back from buying this lens.

Alternatively, you can try out the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 HSM lens when it comes out (dunno if it has hit the shelves yet). It is not a prime lens, but it gives you more versatility.

Because it's f/1.4? ;p Lenses with faster aperture arre harder to design because of more stringent spherical aberration (coma) correction requirements.

Wah.. you can see the light, set the exposure and confident to get the exposure right the first time ah? ;p During film days, for some time I was able to do that.. Now digital made me lazy.. Now my estimation usually slightly under one.. Maybe I've become more conservative.. hahaha... ;p
