Should be Thailand also. It doesn't make $en$e to operate identical lines in both places.
From what I read up about Nikon, the high-end cameras are made in Japan, but the non-professional range are now made in Thailand.

Comex promo: D40X kit S$1188 with tripod, SB-400 flash, 2GB SD, Lowepro EX180 bag, and some other junk like umbrella, lens cloth etc.
Please count me in!
I just got my D40 at COMEX: $1199 bundled with 55-200mm VR lens, with freebies like trip, Nikon bag, & other small little things. After many weeks of serious consideration, I took up D40 instead of D40x.
I'm going to get a D40X, and saw the Nikon Comex promotion. I'm not going to Comex and get jammed there! PK photo that is tying up with Nikon is closed and all their salesman in Comex. I called Alan photo, and it seems that they also can provide that promotional price with all the freebies. Not sure can trust or not..
My question is: Which shop got the best (in your opinion) price that I should definitely take a look? I think I shouldn't miss Sim Lim Sq right?

I was at Comex yesterday and was about to get the D40X kit with VR lens. Tried negotiating but they wouldn't give any more freebies or lower price. So I went over Harvey Norman at Millenia. They do not have the same package but the VR lens is only $299 instead of $399.
I got my package:
D40X Kit
2 x 2GB SD (free)
Dry Box (free, not the portable one )
Nikon 1200 Tripod (free)
Nikon Bag (free, instead of the Lowepro from Comex)
LCD Protector (free)
VR 55 - 200 (@$299 instead of $399)
I know this package does not come with the SB400 flash but I just thought I do not need it know and can forgo it for a Dry Box + additional 2GB +savings of $100 on VR lens.
I also bought the extended warranty for 2 yrs at $112.
Dunno whether it is a good deal but wanted to get the D40 or D40X for a while. Luckily never get the 2nd Hand a week ago.
for those who bought ur D40/x @ Comex,
not sure izit me, but i realised that the speed of the SD Card is quite slow.. I tried to use Bulb mode last nite and it's quite slow writing to the SD Card
So what's the final price you paid for it all?
And now that you got the cam... it time to shoot! shoot! shoot! :bsmilie:
Total Damage yesterday
$1188 + $299 + $112 = $1599
Is the extended warranty worth it?

The SD card I have is the normal one on the D40x but it writes just fine. The camera has a buffer where it can store a certain number of pics (not sure how many) before it writes to the SD card... so unless you taking in continuous mode... it should be alright...
Mmmm... just remembered that if you turn noise reduction on, it will really reduce the speed of the camera as it would process the whole pic before writing it... the default is off...
