Thanks bro..dont know if the promo still valid..
will check it out in a few days

the promo ended , when i bought mine, if u lucky maybe still get the same freebies....
wish u all the best~~!!

U may check with AP @ SLS fr D300s. Look for the senior staff there for help. It may make your decision easier(based on your consideration)

But I will stay with D200 if I were u. May be there is d400 coming up?

d400 estimate 1.5 yr later? lol....

I too am using d200 at the moment and will definitely go for the d300s... 1 main reason is the SD card slot. CF is much more expensive compared to SD right? :S

folks..

one stupid question... nikon bodies are make in thailand nowadays? still using my d70 after many years; tinking of getting a d300s but looking at the made in thailand.. feel a bit of turn off. are there some sets that are make in jap but more expensive?

pls advise

Here's my stupid answer: They are all machine made according to the same exact specification so it does not make any difference. Quality is still the same whether it is made in Japan or made in Thailand cos they are all ISO 9002 certified.

Hi,

Is D300 as good as D300s... BTW I doest not need the video set up.. thinking to get one (d300)..

Pls advise...

Hi, probably you can make a comparison here of what the D300 is missing from D300s, even if you don't require the video.

Do check out Ken's writeup on the d300s, alot is in comparison to the d300.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d300s.htm

Taken from his article:

The D300s is the same as the D300. I can't see any differences in performance.

I wouldn't sell a D300 to get a D300s, but if considering one or the other, I would not buy an old D300. The addition of the dedicated INFO button is a huge practical advantage of the D300s over the D300.

u're right...but cf is definitely a lot more faster....

whatever lah, made in japan or thailand all are same.

but i can tell you, my experience of D700 made in jp bodies are early paint peel off at bottom of pastic Main LCD clip cover on body.

cause i using my old D300 or D300s now, it's more durable.

can be heavy used. haha cause there are made in thailand. :D

Most Nikon dSLRs from D3000 to D300s are all made in Thailand...

Only the high-end models (D700, D3 family) are made in Japan.

Personally I don't think the movie mode is crap or anything... I do use it from time to time to capture some candid moments during some of the shoots/events that I have attended. The quality's not the best in the world but I rather capture something than nothing.

I suggest u read the writeup by Mr KRW. He literally said, "I wouldn't sell a D300 to get a D300s, but if considering one or the other, I would not buy an old D300. The addition of the dedicated INFO button is a huge practical advantage of the D300s over the D300."

More readings here & here on comparing with D300

So if you hv the dole, go for the D300s or better D700;)
I agree with Mr. KRW. There are many advantages, other than the Info button as well.
