Here is a series of tests to see how well DX fare against FX when older lenses are used.

Lenses used on D3 - 28/1.4 and 24-85/2.8-4
Lens used on D300 - 17-55/2.8DX

Resized images for vignetting evaluation.

oh god, you have the lens i've been searching for for a LONG time!

Sorry. I'm not selling/renting/lending.. ;p It's become a treasure..

After looking at these pictures, my vision become very blury..

 Hmm... Think I must put a disclaimer to indemnify myself if someone suffers the blurry eye syndrome or the hole in the pocket syndrome. ;p

IMHO, the 28/1.4 looks like it has that special quality... nice :) BTW, is there something wrong with the exposure metering for the 17-55? Pix seemed to turn out dark and lacking punch (or maybe it's my monitor).

Thanks

I find it a bit darker too. I was using centre weighted average on the D300 and Matrix on D3. Didn't check the metering mode before I did the shots. Even with the same metered value, eg 1/1250s at f/2.8, the D300 image seems to be slightly under compared to the D3 image.

I'm already using D2XModeI for both bodies, so maybe there might be some slight differences in the curves.
