Just go ahead and get the D300, you will never regret it. You wont need a D700 unless you are very serious about photog and if you have enough spare cash.
I have upgraded from D70s -> D200 -> D300. So far D300 is the better choice for me. My 2 cents suggestions only.

Ok guys after reading some post and thinking back about it,my d40 is a very good camera.So not upgrading any moment until I arrmy can get income then i buy

i always recommend... get your flash and fast lens first. now u've got 35mm AFS option :thumbsup:

if u have these, i dun see why you NEED a better body. unless u wanna do action/sports then by all means go for it

Right now I have a D40.In about 1 to 2 years or so I am thinking of getting either the d300 or d200.Should I get a d200 and buy some glasses or d300 or in 1 to 2 years time d300 will drop to d200 in term of price due too d400

Hi TS, since your plan is 1 - 2 years down the road, perhaps you need not ponder too much about it now. While it is good to have a plan and start collecting your information, you need not make a decision now, am i right? So, just enjoy the D40 for the next 12 months and by then you will know what are the available options and market pricings at that time. Then you will have the real data to make a decision. Who knows maybe you hit the jackpot by then and will have plenty of cash to buy the latest model
