any user here can be kind enough to post up some pictures of this lens?

what I read about is the harsh out of focus areas wide open... does it go away at f2 etc

you might want to take a look here .

Might not be a good reference for you as I am not a good photographer.

This shot & this & some others were taken wide open.

Pictures scanned using a flat bed and sharpened a little.

I wouldn't say the bokeh is harsh, it's just not the same as the f1.2. Characteristic wise, it's pretty similar with the 40mm. Size wise, nothing as fast & as small as this exist in the market for RF today.

Is it the 35 or 40 mm? They are different lenses with the 35 mm having one more lens element right?

Cheers,

thought of getting the new 35mm lens ... The 35mm f1.2 with a Leica body with grip is not really so compact anymore.

this hash or smooth thing can anyone teach me how to tell the different???

chiif which will you recommend? SC or MC ? For Black and white work.

definitely the SC.
based on pics posted, the MC is too contrasty for b&w.

Last weekend I met up with SK Chang (and his new 35/1.4 SC which he picked up a couple weeks ago from Chiif) and took a number of comparison shots with his lens and my 35 Ultron. I just developed the negs yesterday and I'll be writing some stuff on it soon. Wide open, I like the bokeh and tonality of the Ultron better (only slightly) but the Nokton is noticeably sharper and loads smaller.

I just sold off my Ultron and am looking for a good deal on a Nokton Classic ;)

Let us know your view again if you have a chance to try out the 35/1.4 MC

I just ordered the SC version this past Friday. Most of my RF-toting friends are b&w filmie geek fanboys like me so I'm not sure any of them is interested in the MC version. The SC version is contrasty enough in b&w...I can't imagine how contrasty the MC version would be.

Planning to get this lens. I mostly shoot Color, can advise whether to choose SC or MC ? Thanks.

Generally, with color you'd rather have contrast then midtones so your best choice would probably be the MC version.
