CS from sg@wireless

Hi
I have this problem where from my netbook, half the time when i tried to post something the network kept on "waiting for clubsnap" but never posting the thread. I never had this problem when using a USB modem or wireless network at home. Is there some CS incompatibility with public networks or some of my settings is wrong?
Appreciate any advise or help.
Thanks

Same problem for me. I still surf CS but don't bother to post because it never goes through.

I always post using sg@wireless and don't have problems anywhere in Singapore. Most of the time it could be because the connection is unstable when you click "send" so ends up you fail to send

Depends on whether there were a lot of users on that particular hotspot or not.

You must understand, the upload speed is certainly slower than the download speed. So when you have more than 6 people on the network at the same time, I find that the hotspot can start to lag.

So I always keep a lookout on number of people with notebooks or using their hotspot-capable phones. If there is only like 2 or 3, fine, I'll be able to even send attachments like 1MB to 5MB. Anything bigger, will almost take forever. Regarding posting to CS, its the same.

Just my observation.

Cheers!

I am pretty sure this is not the reason but thanks for offering your advice. :)
As long as you do not post, the access is pretty ok. I can easily reload or go to another page but when try to post, many times it refuses to do so. Strange thing is not all threads are like that. Some simply post while others cannot.

Normally I use my phone to surf on wireless@sg. Right now I'm using my laptop at Changi airport Terminal 2, and it seems to be working fine. I think the connection speed is a factor too, because this connection is pretty fast compared with what I usually get in Funan.

anyone tried SGX service? my password is correct but always cannot connect.

I noticed those places in the central area are generally slower than those in the heartlands like AMK or woodlands.Anyone agrees?

Don't use that one with the x.Use wireless@sg:)

hmm the one with the x is suppose to be faster.... now they are opening up to snbb users to use. but i can't login though.

Guys
SGx is not faster. It merely uses encryption so that your connection is more secure.
BTW, on one occasion, there was a message about the server querying Clupsnap but did not get a response. I concluded because this authentication signal was not complete the data transmission could not take place. Perhaps CS uses some special codes and some 9of the sg@wireless servers do not handle it as well. That would explain why some places no problem while others have.:)

when you browsing through web pages, you are mostly using the downstream, whereas posting requires upstream. upstream is usually very much slower (more so in the case of free wifi) of downstream speed.

Don't think this is the problem though. As I said, sometimes it sends instantly and sometimes can't. I think it is a prototcol issue.

well the upstream is only 200-300+kbps as compared to the 1-10mpbs downstream, but the number of ppl using it cant be controlled. like for example in a mac, i'm sure not ONLY the ppl in the mac are using it, but stores around it can also be piggybacking on it, customers from the other stores or in the mall can be using it. there could be 20-30 ppl using the small upstream. not to forget CS is a super hot site. is it happening to just CS or other sites? but its still just a theory, i might be wrong. :dunno:

i long gave up on free wifi (also having tons on problem with CS and many other site) and added a data plan to my hp service, never look back since! :bsmilie:
