Guys,

Just to follow through on Royale with Cheese's idea of starting a CS RF showcase, what do you guys think about creating a Coffee table book consisting of the best works from the RF users here?

Of course, we should set a limit on the no. of entries into the book (something similar to the Leica forum idea) and there should be a voting system to decide which photos go into the album.

We can also set a topic or multiple topics for the content. ex. digital vs film, local vs. foreign streets, daytime vs. night, etc.

Just an idea... Think it will be fun to create an annual album of such collections. Of course, the whole exercise should be cost-effective and won't take up too much time.

Publish might involve legal issues? since erm most pic here don't have you know 'model' release
Hmm why not just create a limited thread and get a panel to select?

What is the intention here? Publish for our own keepsake or publish to sell? There is quite a difference in the way you would go about doing this...

great idea with 200% my support. Apologies for playing devils advocate, I tried this with a couple of architect friends years back to publish a collaboration on theoretical work and it resulted in us not being friends anymore. The structural issues were just too overwhelming. Particularly when it came to the investment. Basically dealing with artistes and egos. The only way I think would have half a chance is non-profit towards a particular charitable cause where we contribute work freely and a single or small group of investors, publishing any book is a fairly hefty investment and dependent on runs. Just my 2 cents gentlemen however I am for it all the way if everyone remains friends. Ruined relationships at least for me, is not worth it. Cheers

Rather than publish a book or magazine, there is always the option to have a dedicated website just for the album. There can be a compilation of the best photos of the month or year. Categorise the photos according to year or something like that.

The website can be something like what some wedding photographers do. Cost wise, it should be much lower and with less money involved, there is less chance of a quarrel too. :)

agree. let's ask the seniors and professionals in CS to be our ad hoc panel of judges. in a way, we encourage healthy competition among members. maybe we could sub-categorized into amateurs(newbie)/pro. just my opinion;)

I can tell you now that that's not going to happen.. ;p

I agree. Look at what happened to the last "project". There is a meeting and a now defunct flickr group with a few images.

Cheers,

I agree on that too. ZoomP bro I am not here to pour cold water.
Personally, what i feel a RF PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION and ended up
a with a public gallery sound better?
Later we still could consolidate all the best pictures to do a coffee table book
that's if we have the budget or even print more to sell this in local book store??

Please check this out.
Here is my humble Polaroid event in 2008. :D

I work on this Polaroid event alone. With some help of my friends on the event day itself!
If you guys are keen. We need a good plan and we need some sponsors to make this possible too.
It's not hard really! With good planning, time and hard work! Nothing is impossible! :D

Let me know guys? :D

Hey guys, no problem!!! Ultimately a project like this will need all the buy-in by now. Just thought it's a good idea.

I'm very down for this!

If we can't do it by ourselves or the scale of this project is too small, we can always tie in with other events? Such as the ClubSnap Event not long ago, Singapore Biennale or maybe Singapore Art museum?
