Would like it be a good idea to have one dedicated section just for creative minds to post their self made/workaround solution stuffs against buying expensive equipment... something like homemade softbox, homemade remote,...etc... ??

Or may be there is already such a section aledi which I was not aware of!!! :dunno:

cool idea... i second this!
;)

This is an interesting idea. Sorry I totally missed this thread. We will run this idea by the rest of the team and see the response.

this is an interesting idea... a thread to look forward to... go go go.. .

hehehe =)

I am for the idea of self innovation and resist the temptation to buy, buy and buy. Chip Simons started shooting dogs in the open desert of New Meixco as he has no money to pay or buy. He has progressed. Now, he owned a Hasselbald with a shift and tilt lens, amongst others. Remember, he came to Singapore wearing a tee-shirt with info of his services on front and back. Self advertisement.

Necessity is the mother of all creations. I am thinking of making a small 40 x 40cm softbox using white carton eg. cartons used for storing photocopy papers. It has sufficient depth. I can put my flash through the bottom of the carton and hand hold it.

That's a good idea. It's best if the DIY steps can be a proper show and tell session, with sufficient explanations and photographs to illustrate.

maybe instead of totally creat from scratch we start off with modified stuff would be easier? :think:

eg DIY modified tri-mono-pod with DIY strap?

Hehehe...

So, do we have a deal? :dunno:

After some discussion and debate, we have decided to place all DIY related threads under Equipment Discussion/Others for now. This will keep the number of sub-forums on ClubSNAP at its current amount until such a time where the number of DIY threads justify the need for a separate sub-forum.

I have edited the description of Equipment Discussion/Others to include DIY stuff and we will be actively moving DIY related threads there.

I also suggest that posters of DIY projects use subject titles that starts with "DIY: ......" so that it will be easier to search for DIY projects later.
