hi.. are there any studios or agencies or photographers who can coach or teach non-models to pose for camera, or help them find their best angle on camera, or teach some basic makeup, or how to choose what type of clothes/colours will look good on camera etc..

if yes, what are the charges like?

if you are willing to pay, i'm sure there are such courses around but since beauty is subjective and going for such courses can be tedious, why not participate in TFCD shoots and work with the photographer(s) for a start to discover the various angles, make up etc that works for you. That way, you actually get to 'hands-on' and at the same time, build a portfolio? TFCDs are great opportunities for you to experiment without shelling out loads of $$$.

Sidetrack abit, there's one TFCD session here which you can join and learn more about yourself as well as getting some advice from the photographers -> it's all part of the learning curve.. and having fun at the same time!

Here are the few choice you can look out for:

1) Carries models/ academy

2) Shine models

3) Cue models

4) Nixem

5) Justin

Do give a call or email to them. See which of the packages do you like and compare their services and choose the one that fit both you and your budget.

Alternatively, you can ask some of the fashion stylist/choreographer to help u.

Let me know if u need further assistance

fastest and systematic way is to join a modeling agency, the course fee varies.

if you want to try it out to pose as model, can offer TFCD to photographers, which you spend your time pose for them, and get a CD of the images in as in return favor, which you may use it for your model portfolio, the possible cost involve is co share of make up fee and studio rental.

there wasn't a lot of books talk about posing, you may collect some clipping from magazine, studies the poses, and practice your pose in front of mirror.

for make up you can learn from many places, but make up for photography is slightly different from everyday make up, for these, you can find out from the net.

for choice of wardrobe, the best person to tell you is image consultant or stylist, but you can get some basic info from many women magazines or the net.

hope this help.

Agree with Catchlights,
Some clipping from magazine,
However, As each person looks good each different angle of view.

You may not look good if you follow exactly,
You can opt for TFCD for photographer's, obtain images of yourself.
You should be able to observe what kind of poses and angle of shoot does suit you.:)

I second what is been said up there, review the pictures you had taken and ask yourself' do i like it?' and learn from there, is very much cheaper then goin to a agency IMHO.

hi everyone.. thanks for the many response here.. appreciate it very much.

hmm..looking through some of the TFCD portfolios.. it seems to me that..to be a on a TFCD shoot, muz have at least an above-average face+figure..

to be a TFCD model, is subject to the photographer's discretion right? :bsmilie:

To be a TFCD no need qualifications.. as long as there's an agreement between the model and photographer and voila! a TFCD is born

by the way, if there are 5 photographers who each has his own take on beauty, how do you judge 'above average face + figure' ?? therefore, no such requirements...

to me, attitude is most important, pretty face can help photographer with the portfolio, but nothing much on photographer skill improvement.

of course, the better you are, the pickier will be.

I have not done TFCD for awhile, not saying those models I shots are no good, just that I have no time to offer TFCD.

I would think that it is more challenging for a photographer to shoot not-so-nice things/subjects/sceneries/people/animals and make it look nice/outstanding.

Beautiful things/subjects/sceneries/people/animals are already beautiful to begin with. Its just a matter of how much more beautiful* u can shoot it.

*there are some exceptional cases though :bsmilie:
