Just want to add something. Besides the regular per-month costs of petrol, parking, tax, ERP etc, be prepared to put aside a few thousand bucks for the occasional big item repairs.
Modern cars cost a lot more to repair when something fails. Recently my air-con failed (not cooling), and the diagnostic was a punctured radiator dryer. Had to change the whole system and cost me US$1200.
Back in SG long time ago my Toyota Corolla suddently required a lot of repairs because a number of items failed within the same period of 3 months. First the fuel tank leaked, then the auto window failed, then the A/C died...I think I spent more than S$3k during that period.
