Srsly, up your budget and stra8 away whack the 580EXII. You will in no time feel that 430EXII is not giving you enuff power.

I switched after only 5 mths with my 430EXII.

Agree with Ryan. Get the 580exii right from the start if your budget allows. After you add in the diffusers or make it double up as a mini studio softbox/umbrella flash, you'll realized that it will gives you more fexibility to control the power of the 580exii's output compared to the 430. Even for a macro shooter like me, I have 100% control over my 580exii to cater for different lighting enviroments, especially it is unpredictable of lights in the nature.

if lighting is ok, shouldn't be a problem bah..can use the pop up flash.

if no rain, it's mostly outdoor small group kind of shots. (a bit wary that they might ask me take a GROUP photo; about 40ppl).

YEAH! hmm. come think of it, i also can't possibly flash evenly for too big a group.. unless for indoors la. but then i'll have a big group of irritated-flashed ppl. :bsmilie:
