GN for the SB80DX is 56m at 105mm zoom and ISO 100. A more powerful flash allows you to bounce light off ceilings/walls more effectively.

so u are saying

GN = distance X aperture

which is

105mm = 56 X f1.875

*blur liao*

no. GN is 56m
105mm is the zoom position of the flash. It is a measure of how narrow the flash beam is. Aperture is the setting on your camera.

you may want to learn more about flash here:

haa ... very the chim ... some parts cannot understand ... maybe must get a flash light first then maybe will understand better =P

was thinking of the manfrotto 190DB with either the 352RC or 168 head =) what u think ?

I got a flash bracket for $10 and started to shoot with my CP4500 + SB26. Indoor I use ceiling bouncing and the results turn out to be very good. No cord needed, because SB26 is triggered by CP4500's top flash in slave mode. SB needs to be switched to Manual mode in order to adjust output.

You can actually use the auto mode on the flash. Set the flash to use the same ISO and aperture as your camera.
