Sorry, I keep seeing people mentioning its okay to pay $600,000/yr to manage $189 million. But NKF doesn't need $189 million in the 1st place to self sustain 30-40 yrs (something must be wrong for them to self sustain that long). Isn't 3-4 yrs will be good enough? In that case, the reserve should be $18.9 million.

Before i get to my point :
A few years ago I began to hear so many stories about NKF. Stories of his first class travel (okay in the news), call centre is linked back to him (okay not in the news), staff quitting because they could not stand it anymore because they felt that this organization was bankrupt morally. And we are talking about staff very well paid. Example, fresh out of poly and you could be paid well in excess of 2K (hitting 3K) each time she wants to quit, they up her pay. Why ? Because she was a very good on the phone .. the taxi drivers, the grannies ... the man and woman on the street .. all those "pooer ones" ... And she identifies herself with them. But not the "educated" ones, prob the ones that Durai is thinking of ..., "we" so called the educated class, the english speaking will demand for their reports and yes ... possibly asking for what was his pay. They were told to evade those questions. She couldn't get those professionals to donate. But she gets the "non educated" class, mandarin speaking ones ... they donate like nobody business.
Now even those times, i was thinking he was paid more than 0.5m, possibly a 1M. So 600k was hitting the low side of my estimate.
Oh and about Mr Lee talking about the bangladashi, how he praised NKF that they were so efficient that they could outsource this work... yes, he was correct in a way, they were good. Not enough locals want to do the job (perhaps or is it a way to contract to an interested party of NKF) ... so they recruited outsiders. And what i hear they were pressured to make quota or they don't go home.
I was obviously not donating.

Now my point. Durai's pay is not the shocker for me. I already suspect that. Durai is a self created product of a smart, driven person, who has become an elite ... or at least entered into the outer sanctum of the circle.
That it was mention that this was peanuts by an elite... (the rest what was mention in the news ... yes well i sort of know them ... and those were stuff circulating around, i am not anybody close to NKF.) ... i expected the opposite ...a politically astute statement of disassociation, ... keeping their real thoughts to themselves
How could one say that this was peanuts to the man in the street ... are the ruling elite so desensitized ? Are the 1M pay that their husbands received and all those surrounding them ... peanuts to us ... uneducated people (after all educated people know they should deserve their 1m pay and they should get gold taps)
It means a lot because he is not getting that 600K donation from the ruling elite ( i mean it is peanuts to them right ?) ... if they are the majority donating to him, and they are the educated ones ... then yes lets pay him 1m bucks or more, he needs the money to move in their social circle and swank in armani suits, But we are talking about the majority of the public being in the dark ... to the extent of being misled, to the extent of deception if one were to be very unkind.
So I am not thinking of NKF now, I am thinking of what goes in the minds of the elite. I still do have faith in them, they have the political understanding to know how we tick, how to push our buttons ... so i am fine with that ... but alas what is really in their hearts ... this is passed on to their children, their offspring comtempt for us (unconcealed)... this is what will destablize the nation ... its all in the history books ... power corrupts the generation after and empires fall.

My personal feel...
It is not as simple as to ask the CEO of NKF to step down. Even if he is willing to step down, there have more to meet the eye. It is a problem with the whole NKF management structure as a whole. Imagine, for a company or fund CEO to have 10-12mth bonus, firstly the board of directors have to approve this amount. And on what grounds/basis to justify for the CEO to have fat bonus especially where the economy as a whole is on the down side.
NKF needs to be more transparant to the public. Do bear in mind it is the public fund that they are managing.
I believe those information that let out in court to the public is just the begining. If the case were to go on, more inside information might surface. It's a pity...

Doing what he did, Mr D and his supporters, political or otherwise, are indeed very lucky that they happen to be in SG. Had this happened in the Phillipinnes or even Indonesia, the remains of Mr D would probably have to be scraped off the floor after the mob has had their way with him. And NKF building would be burning rubble by now.
