what will the lay person think and feel about it? her tone and all? what if this never took place, all Singaporeans will never get to know the truth?

anyway, i feel that transparency is vital for any charitable organisation. from what i see, NKF shot themselves this time round.

be thankful that its only graffiti-art on their walls. that's about all most Singaporeans can do.

Just saw a shark pic which was killed by a man. My mum always ask me, why don't those lions, tiger etc... in the wild be killed as they kill other animal for food. I told her that if no cannibel (correct?), the goats, deers etc... will eat up all the grass in the end.

From that, NKF look like a cannibel. Without them, kidney patients will suffer more but with them ard, they might hurt other in one way or another. Therefore, NKF is good or bad, you decide. When they help u to maintain someone health, they are good but when they misuse the $ which you donate, they are bad.

i am veri sadden to hear the news when it came out

i told the guy fly overseas to garner donation support, hence i can still take it if he need to fly , eg he fly to see some big boss to persuade them to adopt a dialysis centre , to help them protray a pro family thing,


but when the actual reason came out as to why he needs to fly , i am really sad.

now i think back , wats the point of working hard, , looks like there is no chance liao

NKF has 189m in reserves which supposedly can last them 2-3 years as they claim they need about 60-70m a year. NCSS has about 157m and can last them a couple of years as well. In my opinion, the reserves are not excessive. Imagine if economic crisis hits us for 2-3 years, the reserves will definitely diminished by a fair bit.

In fact under NCSS's guideline (they are the controlling body of most orgs), reserves can be up to 5 years hence not excessive.

I think you need you miss something.
NKF's claim:
Resreves is $189m
Fact:
Reserves as of now at $260m( not sure if present chairty show is included )

NKF's claim:
NKF need $60m a year.
Fact:
$60m is only true if patients do not pay anything ( which is not the case ). At the moment, till date, it only need about $7m a year. That is why it should be able to last up to 30 years even if it stop all collection NOW.
The above facts are from the papers.

As for the S$240/treatment etc, based on my limited knowledge, level of subsidies depends on affordability. If you are a high income earner of > S$5k (for example only), you prob pays 80%, if you earn 2k, you prob pay 20%

If your total household income is more than $2K, no subsidy.

yes, my colleague's mother was also rejected by NKF for being old & diabetic. Ended up in KDF, and heard many other patients were also snub by NKF...

One black sheep (no pun intended) does not make NKF a bad organisation. I have to agree with Mrs Goh, the patron, that the lawsuit is about defamatory comments by SPH and not about transparency of NKF. She even mentioned that for a organisation like NKF with 189m in reserves, paying S$600k is peanuts....

I do hope that the patients will not suffer because of this.

If 52 cents can go to the patient, in the end, where does the bonus come from? I heard that 6 months bonus for staff! No wonder CEO 1 yr bonus. I bet you also know that they fly in first class, stay in 5 stars etc..., right? Someone do mention that they make use of the patient to get donation. We pity those patient and that is why we donated but NKF just misuse of this $. No point posting here, let's wait and see what will happen next

I'm so very disappointed with the SM's wife. Being the patron, she should have urged NKF to rein in its Board of Directors and scale down spending. No Mercs.

Simple cars will be more than enough. Simple taps and showers will be enough. Why does he need an expensive toilet bowl???

Being the money from donors, every cent should be spent wisely, with the majority of the funds used for patients. As NKF has so much funds, it should be made to give an even large patient subsidy.
