I'm not sure what other have experience, but certainly I did get a good deal on the 1st go with CP even before doing my homework.

The total price I paid for my equipments is only a slight premium from grey market dealer, but certainly lower than AP & John 3:16, and friendly sales person.

I brought from CP Penisular

CP's opening price is usually higher than others since the film days. Service wise also depends on your luck. Sometimes you walk into their shop they treat you as invisible. When you ask a few more questions, you get the 1c look on the faces. We are spending our hard earned molla & definitely don't deserve this. Have since exercised my consumer rights by not patronising them for the last 15 years until recently purchased a LP bag from them. Sad to say, service & attitude no different from 15 years ago....which I think is real crap in today's context.

I never have this problem with John 3:16, MS or even OP where I can spend 1 hour or more in the shop without buying anything & they never give you the 1c look or try & rip you off chia lat chia lat if you have not done your homework....unlike CP.

Will never buy from CP if an alternative source is available. Juz my 2c opinion.

Thought i should write about my experience with CP as well. In essence, customer service, if not driven top down in an organisation, and left to individuals, will surely differ. not sure if CP has a customer service policy, but i had good experience - with one or two individuals i usually deal with.

I am no big spender but would consider myself a long term customer of CP. During the F1, i bought a D700 with a couple of lenses from them and after using it over the week, I thought i had a problem with the camera. I phoned them, talked about the problem and was offered a one-to-one exchange. There was no hitch. i went down, new camera was waiting.

Maybe their prices are a little higher, I am not sure but I trust them, and so far, their service (at least the person I dealt with) was excellent.

guys, bought a wrong sized UV filter from CP today. will they allow me to exchange if i bring it down tomorrow?

thanks.

Prolly yes if you still have receipt and original packaging intact

well... the thing is, we have very few choices in singapore. i somehow don't understand why people say CP good leh. honestly.. they're just average/below average (in terms of service, pricing, brand selection, product variety).

In terms of equotes, CP seems to give me the best quotes versus the other reputable shops.

Servicewise, every shop has it's "bad" sales people, so it will always depend on who you engage with.

Their service is still acceptable, probably because I don't demand much. Their prices(for some products) are another thing altogether.

In Singapore, we are being conditioned to accept lower service and higher price. "Adjusted expectation" - so most people can be happy with their shopping experience.

Dun understand what's your take, already apologise to u and offer you FOC and yet you not only complain but more perturb.

As I say before and now, price discrimination exist in all sectors.

A Coke Zero in the mini mart in my estate is $0.80. However in the Petrol Kiosk is $1.20 and 5 blocks away in another provision shop is $1.00, while in some 7 eleven is $1.50, and if you go to those wholesale distributors, it is only about $0.50 to $0.60 a can if you buy in bulk. So what is so murderous?

As a consumer it is up to you to check the price and your choice and rights to buy or not. Nobody is pointing a gun at you to force you to buy.

I think the analogy may not be entirely accurate in this instance. When you buy a coke zero from 7 eleven, you know the reason why you are paying more. Because its 24hrs and that is the 'extra value' that you are getting and you are paying for the electricity, staff night shift, etc. And you are willing to do it cos you know why. In this case, you are at the mercy of whichever salesperson you get.
Yes one is not forced to buy from a particular shop, but it makes things a lot more difficult for everyone when a 'rubber' pricing policy is involved. If enough people complain, hopefully maybe a more streamlined and standard pricing policy will emerge. Right now it feels like
'Do your homework cos if you dont, you will most likely be screwed and you deserve it!' Maybe people are ready for a change? Fixed pricing policy - ease of mind - won't get screwed - pay a bit more also never mind.
