Condition of item for sales grossly overstated!

request for pictures when in doubt. i don't see anything wrong with that. of coz, seller can refuse to give pics to u also. so you judge for urself.

i have also met sellers who over-rate their items. a fungus lens, a scratched lens, can also rate as 9/10. u have the rights to reject the item on the spot if it is really not as stated condition. try to check the item properly. they can't force u isn't it? just be firm.

if u are really not comfortable, be it u dunno how to check items, scared got hidden problems with the equipment, scared wasted trip to view the item; just buy equipment brand new from shop then. that could be the safest bet but no gurantee the shop won't chop u if u don't do ur homework.

yes i know its not a good experience, but that is how the market is. even ebay. just buyers beware.

I see many senior forumers selling imported sets that are new in box

Why don't you post those links here so we can determine if they are violating the forums rules.

Sales of multiple, similiar items are to be posted in the Mass Sales section with a subscription.

this means that New items are not allowed

i have PMed 2 moderators on a particular member but i am not sure what the status is. last i checked he is still posting on b&s.

Its not like I haven't reported a fairly obvious case of this in the marketplace using the report function either... He still sells brand new stuff on a daily basis.

well we can only do our part in highlighting to the moderators. it's up to them to take action.

What I can't understand is.. this is a photography forum, why can't seller put up their item on sale with pictures? that is one way buyers can confirm the sellers rating.

too much effort? not professional?

agree. it would save alot of hassle on both sides.

Another way is to allow feedback on the seller. Something like ebay, but only people who bought the items get to feedback, granted that there is a lot of administrative procedures to implement, but it will definitely promote a healthier BnS culture in our forums.

I for one have done quite a number of buying and selling recently, and i haven't met with many mishaps.

Can always introduce a rating system like on ebay. But a rating system can also be similarly abused too, eg friends chip in to boost seller rating or buyer gives bad rating even if product is as good as advertised because he could not get the discount he wanted.:)
