One of my bros uses a 70-200mm L IS, and according to him, IS is an energy guzzler!
I would believe that the IS in Canon lenses is an energy guzzler as it is possible to feel and hear it in action from the hum and the buzzing of something spinning inside. The OIS in Panasonic cameras and the Leica lens is absolutely silent and is likely to be more energy efficient.
Then again, people can be so funny. When a camera system don't have IS, they would deem it to be a disadvantage but when they introduce IS, they worry that it would drain the battery. :dunno:

haha.. it is human nature! :bsmilie:

It happens when I go on whole day long shooting trips with him. Battery goes low, off goes the IS.

One thing I must admit though, his 1DmkII is quite the machine gun, and that he can actually lug it around with the 70-200mm whole day long is quite an achievement!

Still, he takes good photos regardless of his gear. (Ok.. enough OT...)

Have you got the comparable images of the corners? Those are more interesting to know info.......
