http://www.3hdigital.com/en/spc-pd.htm -> Manufacturer site.
http://www.eastgear.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=17_66&products_id=310 -> Distributor site

Comparing the 2 sites:

1) "After each transfer, the CompactDrive will scan the hard disk to verify that all data from the memory card is safely transferred to the CompactDrive"
According to the Manufacturer site its does not support this feature.
Anyone knows if this features is acutally working and how to verify it?

2) "Beep sound to alert user after copying" -> I don't hear any after copying. Anyone can verifiy this?

I can't see if any verification is done and I don't hear beeps!

When I try to go to eastgear page, I get this
":: This domain has expired ::
click here to renew this domain"

Is it just my computer?

Just have a question about the PD7X - posted it on another thread but no one has replied. :(

Could someone who owns it advise on how it names directories of new memory cards as they are copied?

Eg: Nixvue's create a directory based on the year/month/date of the datestamp from the latest photo+an incremental number (eg: 20041104.001, 20041105.001, 20041105.002, etc). X-drives create a directory based on the media & an incremental number (eg: CF0001, CF0002, SD0001, etc)

The staff at EastGear told me (when I was there earlier this week) that it's based on date, just like Nixvue; but another site (compactdrive.info) advised me it is just an incremental number.

Eastgear's page is showing up fine here, but a quick whois lookup returns:

Domain Name: EASTGEAR.COM
Registrar: NAMESDIRECT.COM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.namesdirect.com
Referral URL: http://www.namesdirect.com
Name Server: NS2.QALAIP.COM
Name Server: CORP.QALA.COM.SG
Status: ACTIVE
Updated Date: 11-mar-2003
Creation Date: 09-nov-2002
Expiration Date: 09-nov-2004

CARD0001.3HD
CARD0002.3HD
CARD0003.3HD
CARD0004.3HD
CARD0005.3HD
...

And in those directories are everything your card contains ;)

The CompactDrive folder naming is based on incremental number irregardless of the media. If any of our staff told you that it was based on date, my apologies, that is not correct.

Anybody else have this problem?
How to verify and should there be beeps.
Eastgear can clarify?

The copy verification is built-in together with the copy process, as data is copied from the card to the HDD, data comparison is made between the memory card & HDD to ensure that there is data integrity. The verification is not a separate process like those found on the nixvue.

The current PD7X model does not emit any sound or beeps

Our apologies, EASTGEAR.COM will be down for a large part of today (10th November 2004) due to the registrar lapse in domain name auto-renewal process.

Normal website operations is scheduled to resume tomorrow (11th November 2004)

I just got my Compact drive and after copying my CF, the device paused for a while before showing me a happy face. Is this pausing the verification process?

Anyway, I am really happy with this product. It copies 4 times faster than my Xdrive II pro!!!

EastGeat already answered your question like 2 posts above...
