Bro's, I recommend BB rather than AF. I was so-called dupe by the sales person, an old guy.

Last fri went there to get a Transflash 512Mb for $35.70. This price was stated on their pricelist in the shop. Only later after payment I realised that it was priced at $41.90. When asked the guy said that it's only a special price for hardwarezone card members, since i'm not my price was the latter.

He further says their pricing was the best in SLS and furthermore they bring the memory cards in bulk. So his logic the savings is pass on to customer. Being a bit guillable, I agreed and left.

The next day, a friend bought the same type of card at BB for $34.80. I was furious but what can I say, wasn't my luck. Anyway AF get the XXX from me :thumbsd: . Could go to CASE, but what the hassle, just do it here enough for me.

So guys ask first before letting them swipe your cards.

I thought all their prices are pasted on the card box itself? If the correct price was indeed pasted and their pricelist did indicate that their special price was for HWZ members only, then I guess you may have no case even if you go to CASE. Pardon the pun. It is very, very common for prices to vary from shop to shop.

Update: The Lexar 133x SD sold by Eastgear at PC Show does appear to be a very good buy at $99. My friend bought one and was surprised to find that there was a card reader in the box. Card reader + card = a thumbdrive of sorts. Lifetime warranty confirmed. I am interested in buying one but not now. Wonder if the price will drop further. Eastgear list this card as $179 on their website but I think that is over-priced.

Well, it seems that the memory retailers at PC Show have decided to stop price war from getting out of hand.

At PC Show yesterday, i was surprised that certain booths have raised the price of most mem cards compared to the lowest point during Day 1. And even a certain reputed retailer did that too. I asked the sales staff why and she said it was a printing error. How can it be a printing error when their electronic flyer is up on HWZ and CNet with the old price. Heck, even their big poster hanging on top was showing the "old" price. ;( Disgusted, I went to another retailer and they agreed to give me the old price.

As for Kingston rams, all I can say is , not all stock was from the local agent. If you have the time, look at the back and compare from booth to booth... You can also ask them who is the agent and how long is the warranty. There are 2 booths that tell you 1 yr only :nono:

Stuff are more expensive on average too but bargains can still be had if you look very hard.

What I can say is don't read too much on the pricelist these shops put up on HWZ. Some are bs like AF. I thought such practices no more already, but I was wrong. I believe in honest retailing practices.

Anyway AF never mentioned anything about HWZ members only price on their pricelist but the different price is pasted on the box itself. Why is this so, printing error?, or to attract ppl to their shop. This is not right lah :thumbsd: :nono:

since i'm there, i tot i might as well source for the cheapest deal since i'm gonna buy those cards.

Kingston, never use them before. well.... S$164/. for 2 2GB CF cards... :sweatsm:

The extra $16 for the Lexar Professional 133x 2GB SD card with card reader and lifetime warranty is definitely worth it compared to the Kingston Elite Pro, which is only 50x. 50x may not be enough for many of today's digital cameras for the high speed continous shooting mode.

Think the $82.20 Kingston Elite Pro 50X is CF leh..
Or really add $16 to get which 2GB higher spped CF?
