hi need a quick advice.

I am going down to SLS later to pick up Pentax W10 that comes with 512SD card. I plan to upgrade the free card to 1GB/2GB and they guy quote me over the phone that i need to top up S$25 for 1GB and S$70 for 2GB, both Kingston standard SD.

Is it worth the upgrade or should i just keep the 512SD and buy separately??

depends on which one you choose:
1GB = offer is ok, since a 1GB card ard $48, so is like a cost add on
2GB = I would keep the 512SD as spare...or to use as thumb drive.

anyway, just before you collect the camera, just drop by at Best Bragain and pick up their price list and take a look at the cost of the cards, easier to decide with the latest price list on hand...

512MB SD, assuming it is Kingston standard, should be worth about $20. 1GB Kingston standard about $39 and 2GB Kingston standard about $79. Should probably more worth it to keep the 512MB card and buy yourself.

Just in case, ido note that the standard cards are usually not fast enough for some devices e.g. for taking highest quality videos in some digital cameras. You need at least Kingston Elite Pro or similar.

Thanks all!

Just a gentle reminder to check your originality of Kingston product at Kingston website. Last time you can enter your CF/SD S/N and they will email you to tell whether it is original or not. Sorry, can't recall the location.

Regards,
Arto.

here's the site : http://www.kingston.com/asia/verify/
this is found on the leaflet that comes with your product

Are these price in SLS or PC fair?

Looks like the SD card has now "overtaken" the CF card in terms of price. Prices of SD card have been dropping like a bullet while prices for CF cards are more steady.

Sandisk Ultra II 1GB is still expensive, it's because of the USB connectivity feature I assume.
the price is $89
