There are 2 persons there who set up an artificial perch on one side of the small pond, and used groundsheet to hide their camera. I heard they don't like people snapping the bird on their perch. But today they no luck. Anyway, I avoided them, and wandered the big pond instead.The CKF did turn up in the big pond but I failed to make a good shot.

Never mind see who camo bigger.. LOL.. Mine is two man tent.. Anyway, that is a public area. Nobody own it unless they Pay it!!

This means that the bird has no chance to hunt in peace and no other photographer can take any decent shot before the bird get chase off by the accomplice and they accuse me of scaring the bird! The very least, they deprived the bird of a decent evening meal yesterday.

Goodness,so selfish..at least the PRP guys i met arent like that and share location of sighting(s)...like a buffy this morning.

Saw the common kingfishers this afternoon at the big pond. There were 2 of them. Also saw 3 stork billed kf as well at the same place.

You can photograph it at prp and ubin as well.

The ckf is very skittish in nature. It is very difficult to get close <10m to take the shot without it flying off. IMO, using a hide/blind and staking out the probable perches is the best way to get a decent shot. Without a hide/blind, even with bazooka's, u got to crop very heavily. If you guys remember oldtimer's shots, they are all shot from a hide. Chasing it around ain't going work. When the bird is on high alert, there is no way to get close.

Lastly, the closest I ever got to the CKF is in prp w/o chasing or the need to use a hide.

Hi Andy, hope to meet you in the field too The link is fine - I only joined CS this year, so it's great to see some nice shots from last year. Thanks for sharing.
