I find both Tamrom and Sigma's focusing speed similar.

I've no news about the pricing of the OS version. Though u get OS, but u sacrifice APO and 1:2 Macro.

Extracted from Sigma Photo's website:

APO - In order to attain the highest quality images, the APO lens has been made using special low-dispersion (SLD) glass and is designed to minimize color aberration.

But then i thought again, the OS one might have it too since it has SLD glass too.

Had used APO before and pretty satisfied with the IQ. Initially when i started using it was very disappointed cos coldn't get decent shots. Then i realized that i'm usually shooting at the extreme end i.e. 300mm and most of the time i set too slow shutter and oso there were lens shake cos at 300mm...a slight shake will render the pics soft.

After changing to faster shutter speed ( ard 1/500 and more ) and practicing i began to get better quality out of it. I've since sold the lens reluctantly to a sigma 18-200mm OS. Now that i heard that the OS version of the 70-300mm is coming....i'm sure gonna try and get one!!!

U won't get that much blurred pics if u use flash. Recently at the SIN 2009 event, i shot with my 70-300 at focal lengths up to nearly 200mm at less than 1/20 with flash, ISO 800. Pics are sharp!

should be getting the APO DG this week..$360 no change...
got news of the OS version - 600++ no APO n Macro mode.
so the choices are clear...
without OS i just pump up the ISO..

Will they still sell the old model when the OS comes out?

Has anyone tried a 2x teleconverter on this lens?

I found some images on Flickr, but I want some answers from CS, haaa

Better not. At 300mm it's already slightly soft, add a 2X teleconverter will make it worse.
