Hey people from EastGear.Com,

today I brought my friend whose new into photography to your retail store in Peninsula at around 12noon to buy some stuff. I saw a sign saying that you guys are out and will be back at 12.30pm. So we waited and waited until 12.45pm and no one showed up to re-open the store.

I just want to make my opinions known to you guys that we consider this as poor customer service. I understand that you might have something urgent to do at the last minute but hope you'll put the time (you'll be back) much later so that we people don't have to go "chi bi men geng". BTW, not us only, I saw quite a number of people coming back at 12.30pm only to be dismayed that you all aren't back yet.

Anyway, these are just our feedback. Do consider it but don't take it too seriously. You guys still rock! And keep bringing in the great stuff!

Eastgear should out their contactable mobile number on the door ... so that whoever is expecting them can reach them to confirm the time they are going to be back

Overall, a constructive feedback that every small business units will have to face up to.

I do admire east's entrepreneur spirit. He is energetic, progressive in doing business. Because of him, we can enjoy some good stuffs with good prices.

Nevertheless, nowadays people do business in a more flexible styles. Not like last time that most of the people will honor the notices they have put on. I also experienced once that I went to his office to exchange for the charger. When I reached there then I found out the shop was not opened that day (weekday) and I wasted my 3-hour trip there (that time his office was near Lavender).

I am not seeking any apology here, but as a piece of advice is that, east is doing quite well, custumers would not ask much, just open and close the shop promptly (according to the displayed office hour). That is more that enough. OT is optionlay :D

just my 2cents :blah:

Oh dear, poor dears!

Eastgear dude dropped by my workplace for business around that timing, so I guess he was delayed by me.

Sorry dudes.

ermm...maybe whoever concerned can drop him a PM first before posting here? (same case as someone in Buy/Sell who posts in a thread about this high price, that high price, and some might advise the person to PM the seller/buyer instead and not post in the thead directly)
anyway, his mobile number is posted in this threads in ClubSNAP, and he always stated that pls try to give him a call to make sure that he's around.

anyway, these are just my opinions. No offends.

Oh my point in posting my comments here instead of PM him directly was to see if other consumers have experienced the same thing before you see. If it happens too often, I would think that EastGear can benefit from this public feedback from us. After all, we are all keen supporters of EastGear.Com! So we want them to do better right? :)

Hi all, not sure if you guys find their pricing reasonable or in my sense a little weird ... here's why:

I was looking at their Intelligent Universal Dual Charger at the price of S$99 while the price for International Customers INCLUDING FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD is US$59 ( at the rate of 1.76 = S$103.84).

That made me do some simple calculations and if I order this item from US (my main office), it would actually be cheaper than driving down, paying for the parking charges and then the opporunity costs of my time factored in too. That's a little weird cos I should think that instead of having to pay for the international shipping charges for overseas customers, the venture should at least be able to charge the local customers at least S$15 - $20 cheaper and still maintain the same profit margin?

I have read and heard about their good service too but thought that at least they would treasure local customers more as we would be the ones who will recommend them especially when we post in other website forums.

EastGear: I hope you will receive this as constructive feedback, we all care and hope the best for you too otherwise we just would not have even bothered posting about where and how you have veered off-course.

regards

Checked the shop out yesterday, bought a rechargeable battery.. the guy's very friendly and the battery is $10 cheaper than what CP is selling.. at higher capacity too if i'm not wrong.. too bad their range of products seem limited.

Hmm... for SG based dudes like us, if you factor the very important warranty provided by EastGear, then it makes all sense to find EastGear's offerings reasonable. Not to mention the risks involved in getting your orders online etc.

:Later,

Well you can order the item to be delivered to your doorstep, since Singapore is part of "ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD"; then you would save the transport, parking and time.

Anyway, i get your point, but EG is still is business venture, not 'my friend buying something for me' - i think we should just respectfully accept how they do their business. Without a decent profit, no business will survive very long.

I don't see any problem what's all the fuss ? :)

Why don't you all CALL before going down and maybe indicate that you will be there in XX mins.

For me I usually call any shop and even ask for the item that I want to see if its in stock.

Its either they can service you at that time or at another time.

You'll save if you take public transport during your free time and you get the item immediately instead of waiting for delivery.....

public transport ain't cheap too... *grumbles*

I have not been to EastGear but quite honestly, I think the comments have been constructive even if we feel that they are individualistic, but all opinions are like that.

From what I hear, I think EastGear is doing a good job. As for its prices, it can only be competitive with the local market conditions. I agree that perhaps sometimes it might be cheaper to buy online and factoring in externalities like parking and time IS valid, it is up to you to decide where is the better value. But you have to contend with the fact that EastGear can only compete with what he knows from ther local distributors and the RRP that they want him to charge minus profit, different markets have different conditions; just the same as warranties online will be different from a local supplier.

But what is irate is that if there is a sign that says 1230, then the shop should be open at 1230. Perhaps a caveat like "please call 'mobile no' if not open" should be there if you fear you will not make it back in time. The singaporean shopping culture isn't about calling up but walking in; that's a local factor that shop owners have to contend with and adjust to.

Just my 2cs...

Hi all,

I am Daniel from EastGear.com. Thank you for all your constructive comment. I sincerely apologise for our lapse in service. That day, we were out making deliveries and were caught in heavy traffic, hence we only made it back to the shop at 1pm. I agree that it can be very irritating when a shop fails to open when it is supposed to and your grievances is expected (No excuse for that). I assure everyone that this is an isolated incident and should not happen again in the future.

As for our overseas pricing in US$, I must admit that in certain cases we have priced a bit too cheap in US$ (though it is still higher than local prices). It is an error (which we are rectifying) and not because we do not appreciate local customers. In fact for many products like Sanyo & Nixvue, overseas customers pay much more. And in this case not because we want to fleece rich foreigners but because we do not wish to spoil prices over there in view that there may be local distributors there.

I truly appreciate all your comments here. As much as we like to see good compliments for our service, it is the constructive criticism that actually help to make us better. We have seriously considered what is being said here and will make the necessary amendments to provide a better shopping experience next time.

Thank you all for your kind patience and understanding. We hope that you will continue to support us in the future.

Cheers! :gbounce:
