share some experiences my family had. we were trying to ship some fishing equipment to japan in an attempt to enter their market. but those products have to go through a so called "quality control" center, where they will check each and every of those products. and yes, that is each and every one of them, singapore only does selected batches. and guess what, the products came back with stickers on them, blue circular ones. why? the stcikers indicates where a fault is found. i took one fishing rod and peeled of the sticker to see the fault, and seriously, that kind of scratch can only be seen if one had a good eyesight and a nice ambient environment. crazy QC i say. crazy. but i am not sure about other products though.

OMG! Flare was here!

Wah lao the OT habits still runs deep. I've always been around lah... Busy shooting boring assignments for camp (Sia Kang!!!), work and trying to bluff someone to become my wife. Hahaha...

Why I get the A-100..... ;)

Main reasons are:
1. sharp sensor, you will definitely benefit from this with "G" lens.
2. slightly faster/accurate af
3. larger and higher res LCD, but don't like the smeared that can happen easily.
4. like the left knob functions and the revise menu navigation for changing function settings.
5. "Release priority" bug in KM5D fixed. I do use this and in KM5D, the setting got reset after powering OFF. Can't remember other bug, if you remember, let me know and I can check it out.
6. DRO. Won't perform the way you expect it to for some cases. Apparently only work when there are large bright and dark area.

Minor reasons:
1. Larger grip, which I find it better for handling.
2. Reinforced lens mount on the A-100. It's not a problem on the KM5D but it's good to know they have strenghten it. More important with heavy lens.
3. Found this after I purchased it, the "AS" "grinding" sound, a question started by Satay##, on the A-100 no grinding sound that I can hear, only the shutter release sound.

Others complaint about high ISO noise, it's ok for me cause most of the time I use ISO100 to 400 only.

sheesh. now pentax came out with K10D. seriously, i think Sony really need to be fast and good to get that market share. that K10D is like godly, weatherseal, AS that rotates too(not only X and Y), 10MP, have supersonic lenses liao, etc etc...............darn it, where is sony?? this cam is really going to snatch an awful lots of canon's double digits users and nikon's triple digits users. SONY MUST PRODUCE A CAM BELONGING TO THIS GROUP SOON!!!! right now A100 only captures the 400D and D50 market. i think this K10D is going to introduce quite alot of new users, if canon's 40D or sony's 7D replacement doesn't come soon. however, oly's latest E400 seems to be out of competition, for years still no E1 replacements.

not really sure too, but from this diagram, http://www.dpreview.com/articles/PentaxK10D/Images/Features/srdiagram.jpg , i think it means rotation, like a clock, cos other movements are impossible(their CCD plane has a fixed distance). you know something, i think this is an arguement for why CCD-based IS is better:you cannot rotate a glass element to counter rotation, but rotating the CCD works.

Thanks, now get it slightly better, sound good, but most of the my shake are rarely rotational though. Oh well, may be it's me that not aware of it.

here's a fact sheet of pentax's SR. http://www.pentaxslr.com/files/scms_docs//Pentax_SR_system_explanation_0906.pdf

it seems like Sony and pentax have patents for CCD-based IS, however, from the looks of pentax system, i think theirs seems like more advanced.:(
in wat way more advanced? hmm.... i think its like canon use cmos, others use ccd, each got its pro n cons, each got their own technology, like what dr34mc4st3r said, the photos are the one that matters, good SR/AS, lousy photo, means nothing :bsmilie:

i agree, but problem right now is this is a photography forum, both in the artisitc sense and technical. if all we do all day is just taking photos and critising them, it is going to be boring for some. since right now, we are arguing about which cam is better, just talk about it loh.

everything is good only if it is discussed in moderation (pun not intended) :bsmilie:

HI guys, currently i am a nikon d70 user, okay dun flame me,not here to stir trouble.
1. Actually i used the Minolta A1 b4 last time. Actually i am considering to jump ship. Bascially i read alot of stuff on the high iso noise at 800 and above. is it really that bad, i think the d70 has some noise at that region there too.
2. Is there any good prime lens to recommend for the A100, for d70 they have the 50 mm 1.8,
THanks!

it ok if u can live with d70 noise if u can live with the alpha...they are equally match in the noise dept except for the new d50 and d80
