I'm using E510. Sometimes people are just too comfortable with their current Oly models that they just dont want to change it.

If me, I would wait for the E3 to come out on Nov 07(correct me if im wrong). You may have several options then.

After a long wait, got my E-510 Twin Lens Kit at Comex. I bought it on 31st August 2007.
$1399 for Twin Lens Kit, with freebies a 2GB card, 3 Lens filters, Camera bag and paid additional $152 for extra 2years warranty (was told this is paid to an insurance company).

The buddies at this forum were extremely helpful on deciding a camera , as I am moving from a Film Camera to DSLR. I hope that you all include me for any outings organised here.

You can get body only from Cathay for less than S$1200. But then again for another S$200 you get dual lens kit from the show. I think is a good deal.

paid another $ 152 got 2 year extended warranty + 2x steinzeiser uv filter and 1x cpl filter.

do you guys think its worth for the whole package? this is the first time buying slr camera . :dunno:

Envy you guys... I paid S$1350 for my E-510 back in mid June... and I only got 2pcs of 2GB CF for free.

As for extended warranties, I'm a bit wary of it. It's like paying for someone elses' repairs in advance, and after 1 year, it's about ripe time to sell off the old body to fund a new one... or, touch wood, because one might have lost interest in the SLR system altogether.

Which salesman did you get ? i went just now and the salesman only offer me $1399 with dual lens, 1 piece of 2gb cf card, bag and workshop. Never offer me protective film and tripod lehz..

I also got that offer... no tripod! ;(
I actually bought on the 1st day and they didn't have the dual lens offer (learnt my lesson liao... next time don't buy so early!)
so my initial package had only 2 x 2gb CF card, bag, tripod, workshop, cleaning kit, battery, screen protector & 3-year warranty. I top up another $152 to make it to 5-year warranty and got another 2GB CF card, 1 UV filter & 1 polarizer.
I went back on Sat after hearing the dual lens promotion and exchanged the tripod, cleaning kit, battery, 1 no of 2GB CF card and took away 2 years of warranty for the 40 - 150mm lens.
And I'm now short of 1 UV lens for my telephoto lens..

But it depends whether the deal is worth it a not whether you are a new Olympus camera user a not... let's say, for my case i am a E-330 user upgrade to E-510. I got mine at $1300 in June, just 2 pc of 2gb card free. The workshop is free. I already have 3 pc of BLM-1. i already have 40-150mm f3.5-4.5. I dun need the tripod nor the bag. Definately i dun need the 2 pc of 1gb xD card. I dun need the cleaning kit. I already bought an expensive high quality LCD screen protector. Though i dun have the option of paying for extended warranty. Overall, more things that i dun need than want.
