70-200mms or if on budget, EF-S 55-250mm

TS, dun mind me hijacking yr thread to ask this...
With a 17-55mm, it would traslate to about 27-88mm for FF... What lens do you guys use to cover the range beyond 17-55mm from say 100-200mm??
Any lens you guys used to cover the above range to 200mm as good as the 17-55mm sharpness????

Usually it is the 70-200 f2.8, but this is a heavy lens and it is expensive.
70-200 f4 is also ok.

If tight budget and don't mind 3rd party lens, Sigma 50-150 is a good choice. Check the sigma / Tamron / Tokina sub forum.

I travel only with 2 lenses - 17 to 55 and 70 to 200 f/4 IS. Covers a very good range in terms of focal length. The IS in both lenses are also important because I prefer to keep everything handheld if I'm doing walkabout.

The last important consideration in my walkabout/travel combo is that my gear won't give me a backache at the end of the day. This combo of lenses with my 50D is just about right.

Oh I bought the same combo (in my signature) like you are planning. Buy the lens at Orient Photo (1530), buy the hoods (60), and buy the stupid pouch (20).

If you want to consider 2nd hand, buy from people (1200).

Then by the way, like the one above, I am also planning to buy 70-200 f/4 IS USM 2nd hand (1400), but now changed my mind, going to buy 135L f/2 (1330 Orient Photo) soon.

All prices are only 2 weeks old I got it myself, so they should be precise for your reference.

Then by the way again, I am quite disappointed with vertical banding on my 50D at ISO 1600. Apart from that, if you pixel peel at ISO 200, you still can see noise. Used noise killer (or pain killer lol) for that. Pretty sad. But that's about the body. As for the lens, it is very good for my need.

Hey guys thanks for them advices but i finally bought 5DMK2 kit. :)

Difference should be around $2k instead. 50D+1755 is about $3.2k, 5DII+24105 kit set is about $5.2k

most people start looking for a dSLR will start looking at

500D

then, slowly they want a better build body so they will take one zero off it and look at

50D

and then, after asking for comments on which camera they should be getting in the forum, they will end up with one less zero

5D

:bsmilie:

That's a high damage combo. Your mana has been drained :)

Canon should pay you for this...:D

The only explanation is Canon brands their cameras with disappearing zeros and magically appearing MkIIs.

17-55 is a great walk about lens. I used it for my holiday trips overseas.
Why dont u wait for the 60D which has video capabilities. I heard it will be out last quarter of this year.

Yup... money is drain alright. Anyway i tried to resist but a couple of my frens convince me in getting FF. This baby should keep me occupied for a long while like my 350D which have been my companion for 4+yrs...:)
