Colour Negative

Hi can anyone recommend any colour negative? I have no prior experience shooting colours film. Previously was on pure b/w HP5/Tri-x.

Did a search beforehand and I could not find any answers. Asking because im heading to redang for a short getaway! Will appreciate any inputs, thanks!

I tend to be more bias towards Fuji so for colour negs, I would go for Fuji Superia 200 which is cheap. But you will not go wrong with Kodak Ektar 100 too. Ektar is a lot pricer though but its grains are very fine and is pretty saturated.

might wanna try kodak portra 160VC.. its a good fine grain vivid neg film at moderate speed..

redang - crystal clear water, rich blue sea in the horizon and white, crystalline beach sand.

if the weather's hot and sunny, I'd use reala (fuji - iso 100); rich deep colours and slightly warmer too.

whatever film you use, i would advise you to bring your polariser with you. when you are there, you'll understand why......

good luck.

You will not go wrong with any Fuji or Kodak colour negative that they are offering.

Ektar is really great! very fine grained but if u get your exposure wrong it tends to have strange colors..
and its quite ex i think abt $7

u can try agfavista 100.. value for money

Fuji Superia 200 will do just fine for holiday shoots as this film is affordable. Konota sells them in packs of 3 for a good price otherwise one roll costs about $5. :D

What about Superia 1600? Anyone knows where can I get them? Will require higher speed film for situations where light is low and at night!

Kodak Gold 200 is cheap and good...Konota has Superia 800 if u need something faster.

Avoid Kodak Ultramax 800, it's rubbish.

Kodak Gold 200 is good, as is Fuji Superia 200.

Saw some 1600 at Konota 2 days back, not sure if they still have it anymore?

I think Superia 800 is good enough as negatives has wide exposure latitudes. Just find a table, stool or chair to rest your camera and shoot or any other ways to stable your shooting stance to avoid blur.... but wait.... blur shots can be interesting too! :D

Kodak Ektar is one of the best if I shoot color.

Hey thanks guys.

Got myself:

1 x reala 100
1 x kodak 200
1 x superia 200
3 x superia 400
1 x superia 1600

Yeah, bought most of it at Konota! hope all this will be sufficient for my upcoming trip! thanks guys for all the advice, appreciate it! :D

It doesn't matter what camera you bring. Enjoy your trip and use up all your film!

Bro, I suggest you head down to Cathay Photo & get a film bag.

Usually at the airport when they say "film safe" scanner, it is generally film safe for films below asa400. Films like 1600 are very sensitive & I wouldnt wanna risk it going through the scanner.

Hey thanks for the tip! :) Lucky my old man still has his from his film days so I can still use!

Pardon me... the film bag helps to protect film from the x-rays by cutting down the radiation is it?
