Not 3 but 4.

70-200mm f2.8L USM is another one.

i stand corrected. frankly the f/2.8s are so out of my affordability I hardly pay attention to them. haha. i can only see the f/4s in my very far future.

hehe .. the f/2.8s .. "smell also cannot smell" .. so to speak.

Agree Jack! We can only smell abit of F4's only! Anyway, was repeated by many that at F4 the IQ is sharper on the F4 than 2.8 stepped down. Then again got 2.8 no IS oso headache. Almak!!!:dunno::bsmilie:

Yup. It's a true fact that the f4L IS USM variant is the sharpest copy than f2.8L stopped down to f4.

But to get the f4 or f2.8 is dependable from users.

Questions to ask such as

Do you need the f2.8?
Why you need the f2.8?
How often you use f2.8?

If you can answer the questions above then most probably, you need the f2.8 if not then f4 is the way to go.

Hi dep

Suggest you run a search on threads regarding sunrises and sunsets so that you can get an idea on composition/settings/filters etc....one thing i notice is many regards the sun just breaking thru the clouds as nice and not when the whole sun is visible. Some prefer to shoot with a very round defined sun but to do that is very tricky on exposure and you will need a ND filter to help you. My opinion based on thread reading not on personal experience....my first sunrise shot got shot down very badly by critcisms....:(Have to do more research myself...seems easy to shoot sunrise and sunsets but actually not so. It's not just abt getting up early and rushing to setup ur tripod and start shooting...which was what i did...hehehe!!! Just my 20 cents as usual..

What i posted and got shot badly...still recuperating

But I find it very well taker. It not easy to to shoot sunset and sunrise and you've to wake up so earily or wait for so many hours just take sunset. This I must say "well done".

What I usually do is go on flickr, search for photos taken at those locations so that I have an idea what shots are available. I did that for the zoo outing just to see what angles and shots people have done. hehe.
