Unofficial Club 1000D OVERseas Photography Outing!

Venue: pulau ubin/chek jawa(if possible) / changi boardwalk
Time: 11am at changi village bus interchange
Date: 24th Feb 2009
Cost: est. $5 for boat ride(round trip) (Except for your own meal/transport expense of course ;p)

Bring your camera(duh), lenses, poncho/umbrella, plastic bag...

Enjoy your trip to Ubin. I just brought a group of 450D shooters over last Saturday. Had a great day of fun and the weather was tremendously good. So I hoped that the weather will be good for all of you too.

Bring insect repellent and sunblock (sure chao ta a.k.a sunburn). Umbrella not so economical if the fact that you're going to carry a lot of equipment already. But a few would be good in case as shelter huts are quite far apart on the island.

and if i should get it , get a brand new one or just a second hand will do ?? :think:

been thinking of this for some time
and i think i need a bag too :x
coz the canon bag is too small for my stuffs like my wallet and my hp
plus my canon bag one of the zip is spoilted :sweatsm:

the 50mm prime is pretty worth the money even bought brand new. It's sharp, light and compact. You'll not regret buying it. =)

Yeah i need a bag too... seeing as to how the amount of equipment keeps growing and growing..

Lens 50mm : dont disturb your current savings. Start a new 'piggy' for the lens. Buy new $110. during group outings you can use/tryout ours.

Bag : Still can use the Canon Bag, just used whatever bag you have (school bag etc) for personal items, or even a waist pouch is a cheaper option.. If its big enough, just pack the canon bag in this backpack

I think second hand 50mm are about $80-$100 in the B&S section and $110-$120 brand new in the shops. So it really depends on how important that difference in price is for you.

If you are buying second hand .. make sure you check the lens thoroughly because it is plastic housing and not metal one so if the previous owner is super rough with it, it might be falling apart.

as it is for my birthday present but kinda early as my birthday is still far :sticktong

yeah plus if you buy new, there's warranty! After buying a second hand lens on Sunday.. the feeling isn't as good as getting one first hand if you know what I mean. (Sense of security) Although no visible faults are apparent.

Maybe I'm just weird.

oh the second hand lens was a 28-80mm. Just itchy backside, cause it cost $60 only at the photo bazaar. And I felt it is a bit sharper than the kit lens.
