i proposed 24 jan morning 10am, can meet 9am at harbourfront....can spend time taking photo from 10am till 12pm ....once the hot sun is out....can go find shelter.....can continue again say 3pm onwards....

For my recommendation is day light shooting as night photography is dark and has restriction. might end up as just fullterton shoot. location wise, wanna try something fresh and new to everyone, if there's any. (just my 2 cents)

Just bought myself the 1000D with EF-S-18-55-IS Kit and additional EF-75-300MM f/4-5.6III USM len today (07 Jan 2009). Have yet to play around the function keys. Use to have a SLF Nikon F5 and Sony DSC-H7. Hope I get the right DSLR for myself. Still very new in this area and need a lots of guidances and advises to be master of the camera in the coming future. Hope by joining the Club 1000D, I will be able to make friends and get some expert advises from fellow members too. Looking forward to hear some good news from you guy out there soon.

Anyone thinking of getting Nikon lens? got a kit lens also with 75-300mm.. thinking of selling away 75-300mm one, get another Nikon AF-S DX VR 55-200mm ... did anyone do research on Nikon lens with 1000D body? need adapter also..

I think that is an extremely bad idea. One thing is if you happen to have a Nikon lens laying around and want to try it on your Canon, then playing around with this sort of adapter could be an option.

But to buy both the lens and the adapter to use it on a Canon is, IMHO, a very bad idea. This is *not* going to be optimal when it comes to sharpness and focus and I guarantee you that the lens will perform much worse on a Canon than it does on the Nikon body it was constructed for.

There are so many good quality lenses that are *made* for your Canon. Lots of third party lenses that are very good as well, Sigma is highly recommended but others are good as well. I just bought a Sigma APO 50-150mm F2.8 II EX DC HSM a couple of weeks ago, an excellent lens and Canon "L" quality at a much lower price. Might be a bit short for you (and has no IS) but it compliments my Sigma APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM very well (the latter does have IS - and needs it!).

Canon's own 55-200mm budget lens is very good (for the price you're paying) as well, a much better option than experimenting with a Nikon lens . :thumbsup:
