Hi guys,

I've been thinking, we have lot of new DSLR users here. So the next outing will also be a sharing session between us all as well. Just hoped that my 1000D will be ok by then.;p

The following skills/techniques will be discussed/shared.

a. Macro photography (hopefully we can get rocfreaks)
b. Portraiture (50 mm f/1.8 mkII) photography
c. Nature Photography.
d. Manual Mode (How to adjust shutter speed, aperture size and ISO to your liking!)
e. Scenic landscape Photography.
f. Effects of focal length (usage of wide angle lens and telephoto)
g. general chit-chat:D

VENUE: Fort Canning Park
Date (proposed): Sunday 15-Feb-2009
Time: 9am Cost: FREEEEE!

Hi All.

I read that there may be some 1000D users who maybe interested in getting the battery grip BG E5? I was just at Parkway Parade Harvey Norman and saw the BG E5 for sale there. You may want to check it out if you are interested. You can look for linus (if my memory serves me correctly). Not sure of the price, but could probably haggle a little.

The BG-E5 Vertical/battery grip price has recently go up by about $5-$10. To those who have money to spare, I would like to encourage you all to buy. Why?

a. A great morale booster. (1000D feel like 1Ds Mk III quote from John3:16)
b. You looked and felt like a Pro. (many will agree...secretly)
c. Reduce wrist cramps due to portrait shots.
d. Increase your upper and lower arm muscles.
e. Better control of shutter/aperture in portrait mode.
f. Much-much longer battery life (from the manual they say 1000 shots)
g. When mounted on tripod, Tripod becomes extra stable.
h. A better more comfortable firm grip.
i. You will love your camera more...

Cheers

For users on a budget, i believe can also settle for 3rd party, ie. Phottix.. Got quite a number of positive user reviews here in CS with regards to Phottix items.. ;)

I personally prefer Canon Accessories. But realistically I'm not rich. Which shop carries good priced Phottix Items? Maybe we all can meet up, go down there and check it out..

Oh ya for those who wants to know what Phottix have, check out this website:

http://www.phottix.com/

even the website looks very budget-conscious, agree? :)

Cheers

The rubber grip start to peel off after slightly more 1 month of usage, can be glued back. Very heavy usage though :bsmilie:

Other than that problem, I love the phottix grip.

48 users but mostly inactive. Why you want to look at buying a superzoom? Convenience? I think the 75-300 is not a very good lens. Although I did manage to get some nice shots with it, I still decided it's best to get better lens. Maybe you can try the 55-250. Or if you have the budget, 70-200 f4L.

subject to work schedule, I will join this outing. So currently is at 'wait & see'.

Guys, I have a very 'goondoo' question to ask and has been delaying, so embarassing but cant hold it any longer. Got a Sigma 18-200mm DC OS F3.5-6.3. Been reading and browsing the net but always have problem understanding what I read .... no much school la.

What does the F3.5-6.3 means??? Am I correct to understand that Im restricted to this Aperture at Max zoom? Pls help.

cheers
