Close-Up filter... Vignetting a concern ?

Which lens are you going to pair it up with?
Have you taken a look at Rayox 250?
Personally. I think vignetting shouldn't be a problem if you are not using the widest end of the lens (assuming zooms). If on primes (longer primes) also shouldn't have any issues too.

So far, i'm considering the Canon and Hoya,
Thinking to start with either +2 or +4.
(i suppose higher diopter will further restrict the focusing range?)
Raynox only fit up to 67mm.
WIll be using on Nikon 24-70 & Sigma 50-150mm,
and maybe Panny 12-32mm with adapter.

By means of "further restrict" do you mean the focusing range will be nearer and nearer?
And yea... the Ranoyx clip is only 67mm diameter, can cheat abit up to 72, but doesn't work on some lens.
And for the lens you mentioned (24-70 and 50-150), isn't these 2 abit too heavy for macro? Unless you are on a tripod 24/7 when using the filters. Not sure about people who are using those closeup filters, but so far, I've yet to see people using it when shooting Flora/Bugs.

For Canon only 500D Close up filter (+2) has 77mm size, 250D (+4) max should be 58mm.
Hoya should have up to 77mm for both +2 and +4
If you get 77mm filters shouldn't have much vignetting
Even with +2 focus range is quite limited, my guesstimate the range that the lens is able to focus is around 10-20cm in front of the lens only.
Quality wise I guess better to read up reviews and look at sample photos to see if you can accept the slight quality loss

For example,
Sigma 50-150, the focusing range is 1m to infinity.
With the filter, the range will be (example only) 0.5m to 5m.
So the focusing range becomes smaller.
Correct me if i'm wrong,
I suppose with an increase in diopter strength, the focus range will be reduce further.
(although the min focus distance will be reduce accordingly)
Not sure its feasible, but will try out hand-held.

You should be correct, Yodobashi list the 250D/500D sizes up to 58/77mm only.
Did some google, seems the dual element Canon give better IQ than the cheaper single element filters.
Will see what i can pick up from my next Japan trip.
