hey, nice ones! You mean, putting the close up ring can allow you to do that? I am inspired to do what you have done. I have a 80-400... am thinking of doing the same thing.

1) Did you crop heavy?
2) Would you recomend putting the close-up on a macro lens also, i.e. 105 mm Nikon?

thankz bro.. i cropped these photos but not that heavy.. with my set up, my focus distance is at 250mm from the subject so its quite decent enough to get some details..

if you want to use it at your 80-400.. 80-100 is ok, but zooming to 100 and above you will see terrible Chromatic Abberation...

no idea bout the macro lens cause i dont own one.. :bsmilie: but i read a lot of stacking.. close up filter, reverse ring, extension tube and many more...

wow great shots!

i use my +4 on my 70-300 but every thing is blur? like fog up...
even when viewed thru the viewfinder? u encounter any thing like this?

use 70mm focal length bro... and use your cam to move back and forth for focusing...

I like the first one!

Nice :D I like 1 and 2 too. The details on the spider kindof reminds me of a baboon i dont know why LOL. Maybe cause of the red patterned face :b (Hee the spider has 4 eyes!) The 2nd photo's an ant.. right? Cool, didnt know ants look like that :b

Nice! The quality is pretty good on the account that you are using a +4 filter.
May i know what is the +4 filter that you are using and the aperature that you normally shoot at?

using HOYA brand... at f14

You can use higher focal length, even up to 300mm, only if you use achromatic close-up lens. These multi elements lens cost much more but it deliver much better image quality, as well as solve some aberration issues.
