Cleaning mah sensor

Hello there, Can I go to the Nikon service centre in Singapore to get my sensor cleaned? if so, how much is it?

I was thinking if I can clean my sensor myself, but there are other people that tells me I can't clean it because the sensor is super sensitive.

I'm not sure about where to go but I would tell you there is more to it then just swabbing the sensor down. One must also clean the mirror box thoroughly first which entails blowing it out and then running something soft and pointed along all the edges and corners...all while the camera pointed down so gravity can help. Not recommended to mess with mirror. After all of that then comes the sensor swabs which must be done methodically. Then have to make sure all wet and residue is completely swabbed away. There is a tool used to place over the cameras throat that always one to easily see the spots on the sensor and also allows one to see that they have finally got it completely thoroughly cleaned.

I use my local camera shop tech maybe twice a year...about $85 US dollars per run.

You can go to Nikon Service Center, of course. The charging rates are on their website.
For DIY sensor cleaning you need steady hands, patience and the right tools: sensor lupe, sensor swabs and the cleaning fluid.

On top of that, youtube has tons of videos about sensor cleaning. Last but not least: do read your camera manual.

After 2 visits to Nikon Service Centre, I decided to learn and do my own cleaning. 1st time so kang cheong, then I realize actually quite straight forward. almost cannot go wrong if you use the right product and tool. Sensor were made to sound so alien but actually not so easy to scratch or damage unless you decided it is time to change camera :bsmilie:

BTW the last mass order for Copper Hill Sensor Cleaning Kit was 4 years ago. anyone ordering?

Within 4 years I have used two sheets from the pack I got.. and most new camera sensors do 'shake shake' anyway, no chance for sensor dust to settle :bsmilie:
