I'm writing this review to commend Mr Philip Tay at DeCamera Consultant.

Recently bought an old but still good Hassy from the bay. When it came , the anticipation and enthusiasm was dampened by magazine troubles, the shutter catch lever was faulty and was jamming the system.

After hearing so many good stuff abt Mr Tay's magic, decided to pay him a visit today. 'Doctor' Tay I'd say. It felt like bringing my camera to a specialist clinic, with him asking about the symptoms and problems. Then he said OK, handled by camera, and began doing his diagnostics with such professional speed and action.
Within minutes, he identified the problems and other related issues --no guesswork here  --

Professional, patient, friendly, mentor-ly. That's how i'd describe this silver haired uncle :)
Taught me how to handle the camera and the to-dos and not-to-dos.
Good price too, I'd definitely be sending my classic or modern cams to him in future.

Not affiliated to him in anyway, just wanted to bear witness to his good work. For those of you with cameras that your senior generations passed to you, this is the man to make it work.
Off to loading in film now !.....;p

Sadly I didn't have a good experience with him.

Brought my SX-70 that I bought over the forums whose reflex mirror fell off and shattered in the camera. Brought it to Mr. Tay and he told me I handled the camera wrongly and repaired it. Took about 2 weeks.

The same problem happened again, mirror fell off but it didn't shatter. So I handled it carefully and brought it back.

After inspecting he told me around it will take around 3 working days to attach the glass back on my SX-70. Apparently the problem is with the bonding agent he used last repair. It's been 2 months and he's still pushing the date further back, stating he will 'work on it this week' whenever I called.

Pretty upset cause everyone praised him.
