Hi all,

I'm glad that the message is getting across to all and it seems that there is a terrible service record behind this business.

The key I posted here again was to gain greater outreach and make people know that such things exists and maybe even prompt more to stand up for their rights and bring more of this matters up for public scrutiny.

Just for information, I've brought this issue up to CASE already. If you personally been affected by unethical treatment from this merchant and would also like to help bring them to justice, do drop me a mail at wannapreneur[at]gmail.com so perhaps we can do something together?

Thanks!

Do keep us updated on the result.

Did CASE require that you join them as member and may some membership fees before entertaining your feedback?

Hi wannapreneur, thanks for taking this up to CASE. I don't think this a matter of who's new to photography or poor with doing marketing research, but the fact that they are applying unethical tactics on unknowing consumers. We may now be served a caveat, or already know within our community to avoid the mentioned shop and its brother stores (if there be), but who knows how many out there (not poor tourists I hope) suffer this same plight as us.

Please let me know what else we can do to help. I am sure my friend who still seethes through her teeth talking about this, she would want to bring some saving grace back to the photography market we are very proud of.

Report to CASE, cos if they have such bad reputation (and I guess this isn't the 1st time they're cheating ppl), many ppl would have reported them before. You'll stand a better chance of getting some help with CASE.

Some businesses go for a hit and run kill and not for repeated customers. For each customer they rip off, they can afford to lose repeated business.

.....

If that is how they can sustain their business, then I am appalled. I would have thought that by word of mouth, this shop would have been shunned

In all my buying experience, this shop really ranks as the one of the most disgusting and revulsive (if not the most)

I think in that case, it is time to promote greater awareness of their unscruplous tactics in forums. Getting them blacklisted by CASE may not really help as they can easily resurface under a new name.

And since their business is to fleece consumers, they would still profit in the long term and they are prepared to refund the occasional consumer who brings up to CASE.

However, if the threadstarter wishes to bring up to CASE and would like support, I am prepared to support by relating my experience

I agree on that point so we should turn their game back on them where they get hit by a swarm of claims at the same time ... The more the merrier ...

So far CASE has been very good and prompt in getting back and has even assigned a support officer to start the proceedings without requiring payment yet. However, it would cost me $8 for a 1 year student membership and then $10 for this case.

But I think its a very worthwhile $18 .....

My sympathy to you, i know exactly which shop this is and i had walked in some years back in my ignorance wanting to buy my first camera, back then they had more then 1 unit peninsula. They were very nice and polite but something was just not right in my gut.

I'm glad, i bought the f90x from another shop down the lane. i still see the same guy there, infact, just pass by that shop this afternoon while going to cathay. Often when i pass that shop, i feel sorry if i see someone in there especially if they are tourist.

maybe we can play some tricks with them too? goes in, ask for something then when they try to ask for the money first, just walk away.

better still, walk in, enquire about this this this and that, spend 30 minutes talking then tell them oops i left my wallet at home

BUT, we don't have to stoop to their level...

Maybe we should consolidate a list of 'black shops'. Whether in terms of ethics (or the lack of) or of (bad) service. Not sure if this is good idea

Can we have a new thread that lists down all the camera shops in Singapore with their addresses and contact numbers. Also, with that list, can we create a ranking system of these camera shops based on a set of criteria, such as honesty, service quality and product knowledge? I'm sure, with such a ranking system in place, this will help everyone in this forum make well-informed decisions when purchasing their next camera products.

Yeah. Admin, please create a sticky where we can add blacklisted shop names etc

should report to the authority,no matter how small the amount. the seller has no right to keep your money . If it happens here in OZ the shop owner won't survive. I reported once before to consumers affair and get my money back and also the shopowner reputation tarnished. You can also report it to the media papers about the incident , they might be interested .
I found that alot of elctronic shop sellers in singapore are not very honest especially to tourists. Now I always buy in HK instead .

Yup. Writing to ST Forums always help.

The Singapore community must really learn to stand up against these people. It is because most people feel that "aiya, smal amount let them be la, just don't go back there again next time" attitude that allows them to thrive and cheap more people. And because they are not out of business, they'll do more to cheat tourists, whom they know that are less educated about the local prices etc.

Only WE can stop these. We should all fight against these ruthless beings.

Yep, tried that too but I must not be a very convincing or good writer because they rejected it. :dunno:

Hope CASE's followup will do the trick ....

Of course we CANNOT have such a list of blacklisted shops. Otherwise, we will have requests that practically lists most of the shops in Singapore! Every customers have different expectations and shopping experiences, and hence their own opinions of "good" and "bad" shops.

Furthermore there is no authority or governing body in the forum to verify the claims of so-called "BAD" shops here as claimed by forumers. And hence, for the forum owner to support a thread with such claims in a "sticky" thread only increases unnecessary liabilities and is therefore unjustifiable.

:D aiyo lucky me... i got so many info on many dishonest, disgusting, shops.
thanks guys, keep up the good work, i will keep the list of shop to avoid:confused:

yeah. maybe if you are getting those cheat scandal please write in. we cannot keep writing on this blog and hoping for the ST forum editor to stumble upon it. we must stand against those fraud which are really nerve wreaking

I am worried about the potential harm this shop may do to Singapore when the IMF delegates arrive next week. If some of them buy from this shop, what if they get the same experience as wannapreneur?
What will they think of us?

Of course return long term business may not be the shop's idea. It is hit and run as the delegates won't be coming back soon (if at all) after the event.

If wannapreneur blows the whistle to the News media and all the embassies warning them (to warn their delegates) about his experience, will the shop owners engage a lawyer to sue him?

I definitely think so.
Because then it really hurts the shop where it matters.

Imagine $$$$$$$$$ of sales being lost.
Those IMF delegates are not ordinary folks.

How can wannapreneur do Singapore a favour without risking being sued?

Easy, because the last time I checked, you can't sue the truth.

Anyway, this forum section seems to have hit top stop when you Google for "Worldwide Cameras Centre" ....
