zaren: nope, not fungi. Fungi tend to grow in circular fashion on a substrate, where the mycelium send its hypae all out (and around) to seek for new food source, while depleting the one its currently on to substain itself. Don't see anything circular there. Then again, it all depends on what magnification you're looking from.

Chris: I really don't know how to answer your question. I don't usually shoot abstract, and numerous of my strange looking photos started having life only when I'm sitting in front of the PC. Sorry, am not the best person to ask about the mindset of shooting abstract per se.
