Hello,

Do anyone know or recommend any good yet cheap shops to convert old VHS and Videotape(Sony '90s Handycam Tape actually) to DVD?

My family have loads of old tapes dating back to the 80s and rather than rotting away somewhere(our VHS last functioned in the late 90s LOL) we wish to find a shop who can extract it out to a media such as DVD.

We are looking for a shop that does it cheap but with reasonable quality, maybe DVD quality or the original handycam's? Whats the average price for per hour conversion? We know of one shop in BP that does it for $20 per hour but that's a little costly as we are looking at tens or even hundreds of hours worth of videos.

Thanks

PS: Ok, i checked and confirmed already - the Sony Handycam is using 8mm Video8 Tapes. We have the video camcorder still with us along with 2 batteries but unfortunately we have no charging wire(probly lost) so we need you to have the proper equipment for Video8 Tapes too.

What kind of price/hr or price/tape you're willing to fork out to preserve your memories?

'Cheap' and 'Expensive' are relative terms.

Regards,

We are looking at $10-$20 per hour, with hopefully a competitive price-to-quality ratio.

Quality means the original quality from the Handycam/VHS, Remastering the quality to DVD quality is optimal.

Already recieved 2 PM, but i hope to recieve more for this required service.

Sorry for the rushed and confusing sounding post - hardly have time to check.

Anyway - after checking the entire stock - seems that our majority of the memories are in the Video8 tape..and only a few in VHS...

Wow, are you saying that you have 100 tapes to convert? If that the case, maybe you can get them done at $10/hr which I think so.

"Video8 quality is equal to VHS quality" I don't think you can get DVD quality from it.

Haha, that was a damn rough estimation which i made because i had not made a full stock count. After making it i found out only about 10-20 tapes to make:bsmilie:

About the DVD Quality, i was thinking of whether if possible the person doing the service could like, remaster or improve the quality. But i dont mind if its not possible :D

Hi,

My name is Fadlin. I can do it for you, but before I quote you a price,
I have a suggestion to make. I do not mind doing a sample conversion for you for the the Hi8 tapes, but I need your equipment to do it.

Once you have seen the quality of the conversion, then we move on from there.
Is this arrangement ok for you. Below are my contact details if you are interested :

Name : Fadlin
Hp : 9764 2387
Email : mfadlin@hotmail.com

The sample will includes :

Enhancement of the video footage
Conversion to a DVD, with menu capabilities.

So I hope to hear yr reply soon. It sill be better if you can reply me thru my email address above.

hi eosdigital, have you manage to find what you want?
by the way...I can't help but noticed that you don't seems to know much about limitation tapes. If what you have on tape is already of low quality than what you get will be low quality.

However, if the quality of the video is degraded due to dust on the tapes, there is a limited way to salvage it back. Note that the final image quality from the salvaging will not be a very big step though. ie. it will not be from a VHS to a DVD quality. The result is more of where there are lots of jumping lines on your image...to lesser jumping lines. (hope you get what i mean here. =D ).

Anyway...I would suggest that when you find the shop or service, get them to convert a short sample and see how is the result before you decide. (like what Fadlin posted above). Good luck in your search.

hmm i am also helping my dad look for converters too. my uncle does such services but we donot wanna burden him with "free" requests.

i have like 20-40 VHS, movies, Power rangers series( HOHO) & personal ones. I donot think the quality needs major remastering or such. Looking for affordable ones since i think i shall pay for him and im still a student eheh. :P

$10/hour? I think it's difficult to get someone do it for you with such a low price. hehe. The best way is to do it yourself. purchase a PCI analog video capture card and capture it to your pc. :)

If you can find a replacement charger or wire, then the easiest and cheapest way is to get a HDD/DVD recorder and connect your Handycam to it and record. You can even do simple editing and create DVD with menu on the recorder.

i dont have a vcr player anymore. in future whats the best way of converting?
buy a vcr player which is quite obsolete in the market now.

anyone got recommendations where got cheap cheap services for conversion from vhs to vcd/dvd?

Remaster it take times and pay more. It all based on the master tape Video 8 or VHS quality. Conversion 2 way take. Hardware or Software convert. Always convert samples before do the job. :D

Hi why not just buy a dvd recorder and record it yourself...you save more bucks.

The cost of conversion is usually $25 per hour for DVD $15 per hour for VCD

The cost is lower if you have 10 or more tapes

EMAIL us for more details.
