$250 for 6 rolls of film? What film is that? I use Fuji NPH400 and that's $7+ a roll. And go to Colorlab for processing and for 4R (whilte border) that's 45cents pc! Hmmm... If you think what she did is nice (photos), then obivously you haven't seem mine yet ...:devil:

Ya,I was shock and the next day I call her up telling her S$500.00 is alot as she told me that this is what a pro photographer quoted her as she had seen numbers
of photo that I had shoot for my group of friend in the past.As if I can gave her the pro result as the pro do why not pay to a close friend than to someone.
Wa I was so touch than, ready is not easy have a friend that ready understand the hard time that we spend to shoot on a wedding day.

Like I said. A ready portfolio is necessary. Some like your STYLE, some don't.

Now the challenge comes is when the couple show you photos they like from OTHER photographers. Will you do it if it is within your skill but not your style.

Your good friend appreciate your skill to produce good photos for her. Not all treat photography the same way.

I had one friend who just want video... no photos!
Or just ask anyone with a SLR + flash to shoot without finding out how good he/she is.

I have couple of friends who has requested me to shoot for their wedding dinner but I told them that I am just a amature photographer and photography is only a hobby basis. I advised them to get a pro. Since then our relationship became bettter and better.

haha.. don't bother by my thread lah. Was just trying to be cheeky abit. Anyway, sometimes the satisfaction from photography not comes from money, but the results you produce and the thanks you receive from your clients.
I believe your friend is a competent photographer lah. Money to her is probably secondary.

On the topic of angbao, I always insist my client give me an angbao. It a chinese custom for good luck lah. Money is not important inside the angbao, just a good luck gesture, similar to angbaos given to bestman, bridemaids, drivers, helpers etc.

Ok serious speaking, sometimes to penetrate the wedding industry market, young photographers have to develop their own style, whether its OOF or B/W or digital manupulation etc. It's good to know fellow photographers and be more socialable to know more contacts. Then it's also good to keep a portfolia to show your clients when you are first starting out. Later on, words of mouths will generally be the norm of getting clients.

if i want more experience, can or not if i just 'gatecrash' the wedding and take photos?? hahah... think i siao already.

but i got a friend who 'trust' my skills... i offer to take photos for her wedding she tell me.. errr.. no need lah. just sit down and enjoy yourself.

but i think wedding photography is really one hard thing to do and also good to test your skill cuz it's super pressure and must make it one... if not, how to face your friend or hand up your work of art...

this is one aspect we would find hard to brush up right???
so.. better gatecrash the next wedding you hear... ha!!!
